A smoked rye maple porter. A collaboration with Pappy’s Smoke House. Smoked Pigasus is a robust and delicious porter brewed with rye, smoked malt, and maple syrup. the maple syrup provides a perfect balance for the smoked malt. Smoked Pigasus pours a deep mahogany with aromas of chocolate, smoke, and caramel. A big thank to Pappy’s Smokehouse!

It poured a dark brown color with a medium tan head. The aroma was full of smooth milk chocolates with some nuttiness. The taste was full of light nutty and roasted aspects, some sweet malts and chocolates, but not too sweet. Very tasty.

From bottle 6 months. Smells of smoky chocolate and toffee. Thin head and body. Flavor is chocolate, toffee, less smoke than the nose. Body is thinner that expected. I apptecoate the lack of booziness. Not getting any maple though. Solid beer.

Bottle, from notes. Smoky Roasty malts dominate. Hints of coffee and chocolate, I’m getting the rye but getting zero on the maple syrup.

Bottle sampled at Muckfest V on 7/11/14. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head. Smoky and malty nose with a bit of caramel. Chocolate and caramel flavor with slight maple and a bit of smoke before a bitter roasty finish.

Bomber pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a small tan head. Aroma of smoked malts, rye, and chocolate. Taste of dry rye, smoked malt, chocolate, and a touch of maple syrup. Well round, a pretty nice smoked porter.

Overwhelmingly smokey aroma. Light beige head. Tastes much different than the scent. A rich chocolate aroma and roasted malt. I would definitely drink this again.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Taste smokey, chocolate, roasted malt. I thought this was ok. I wouldn't drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep mahogany tinged brown into an English pint. Mocha micro head with good retention recedes leaving trailing sheets to coat surface. Sweet smoke and milk chocolate aromas. Dry with chocolate and maple upfront turning to mild smoke before the lasting espresso finish.

Aroma is toffee, caramel, dark malts and a hint of spice. The flavor is dark malts, mild smoked malts, fruit, chocolate and the signature porter acidity found only in the great porters.

Over carbonated head and initial CO2 like weak nose that finally dissipate leaving solid smoked ashy malts, pumpernickel bread, espresso, Turkish pipe tobacco and a faint touch of maple vapours. I hate to say it but too ashy and smoky on the palate without something else to back it up... maybe the maple they promised? More bready rye? Pig = Bacon right? Then why does this not taste more meaty? (salt would have likely helped out there).... So in overview, the over carbonation just ruins everything! If that was dialed back then I would have enjoyed this more. Disappointing beer but at least drinkable (so far 4 hands is batting .500, good in baseball but bad in beer). Still I am looking forward to seeing how the tap offerings fare this summer.
