COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smoked rye maple porter. A collaboration with Pappy’s Smoke House. Smoked Pigasus is a robust and delicious porter brewed with rye, smoked malt, and maple syrup. the maple syrup provides a perfect balance for the smoked malt. Smoked Pigasus pours a deep mahogany with aromas of chocolate, smoke, and caramel. A big thank to Pappy’s Smokehouse!

It poured a dark brown color with a medium tan head. The aroma was full of smooth milk chocolates with some nuttiness. The taste was full of light nutty and roasted aspects, some sweet malts and chocolates, but not too sweet. Very tasty.

The color of this beer is a very dark brown with a small off-white head that never completely fades, and the aroma is strong and indulgent with its molasses and roasted malt scents. The taste is also quite decadent with its mildly sweetness, slightly bitterness and slightly umami. Also, the palate combines a long smoky finish, a medium body, a very slick texture, and an average carbonation.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place. Man what a great beer. Smoke and more smoke with maple syrup. Not over powering from either, just a great blend. Chocolate with present. But maple came more up front as it warmed, which I didn’t mind at all.

This beer has it all. Nice smokey flavor with a little bit of maple sweetness and plenty of hops. Nice dark pour with a white head to it. Looks very pretty in a glass. Smells like BBQ with a little bit of maple. Smokey hops on the palate, with a nice long finish. Excellent, well-rounded brew.

Bottle pours brown with a tan head. Aroma is sweet roasty malt and a little smoke. Flavor has a light sweetness, some smoke, then a bitter astringency that I really didn’t care for.

Sampled on tap at the 2nd annual Urban Chestnut Wolpertinger party in a dimple mug. It poured a nice brown color with beige foam. SMO-O-O-O-OKY, almost overwhelmingly. The smell was better than the taste. I think there’s a decent caramelly, bready porter underneath, but couldn’t really tell. I always love rye in beer, but its subtleties were buried. Medium body and carbonation, well-rounded mouthfeel, but unpleasant, lingering pork-and-beans aftertaste. A 4 Hands beer I don’t love? It was bound to happen eventually, but it’s still a bit sad.

Pour is a dark red with a small tan head. Aroma is a slight smoke with a little vanilla in there. Flavor is sweet malt with some vanilla sweetness an again a very minor smoke. A very minor smoked beer and kind of sweet with some blandness

January 15, 2013 on tap at brewery. Dgark brown pour with limited head. Roasted malt, sweetness and some spice in aroma. Taste was consistent with the roast / smoke up front, then the sweetness and a spicy finish. Very nice brew.

Had this on tap first and then recently on cask at Iron Barley. Pour is deep clear brown with a small tan head. Aroma is lightly smokey and sweet with caramel malt and light vanilla. The flavor is outstanding with loads of sweet and smokey malt (not that smokey) with light syrup and light vanilla. The cask is outstanding - my rating is swayed by that.
