Columbus Tomahawk Zeus is the primary hop variety in War Hammer as well as the inspiration for the name. We use a combination of Pacific Northwest hops to create layers of pungent flavors. A generous malt bill adds biscuit and honey notes while allowing the hops to take center stage. War Hammer pours golden in color with aromas of pineapple, mango, tangerine, resin, & slight earthy notes. Drink fresh!

Where: Old Line Fine Wine Spirits & Bistro. How: 12 ounce bottle. Appearance: Clear golden with a ginger of head. Leaves plenty of lacing behind. Aroma: Light citrus, slightly tropical pineapple and mango notes, caramel malt sweetness, honey. Taste: Biscuity and caramel malt sweetness, orange, pineapple, and slightly earthy. Palate: Medium-bodied, medium carbonation, bitter, balanced. Overall: Very hop dominant and just enough complexity to keep things interesting.

Poured into one of those impossibly thin hotel room plastic cups wrapped in even thinner plastic sheeting, the ones next to the ice bucket. Picked up a bomber from the closest booze retail. Smells and looks like a winner IIPA, tastes like one too. I enjoy this one quite a bit, solid A on this one but would need a tweak to get the A+. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reddish-orange pour with an off-white head. Aroma is fruity hops, hops that invite you to take that first sip. Taste is easy going down beer, mild carbonation. Tasty as hell beer. Hops and malt marry together in harmony. Little fruity, all tasty. Alcohol hidden, not the flavor. Wow! Great lacing.

Poured from the bomber, reddish dark orange with chunky white foam. Gritty, thick, sticky, tropical, strong, and dry at the end, my favorite of the 4-hands, I’ll swing the war hammer.

Enjoyed at the brewpub, pours a clear gold with a white head, the aroma has a good amount of citrus and hops with the flavor being much of the same, nice citrus front end with a balanced finish, abv is very well hidden, not bad at all.

Deep gold pour with a fluffy white head. Very malty nose with some grapefuit dancing around. The malt continues into the flavor, honey, ruby red grapefruit. More malt than I would prefer in this style.

Rich dank smell of sweet malt and the slightest amount of hops. I wanted more of a hoppy scent. Looks great - crimson/amber color with a small cap of creamy white foam. Spicy taste at first with some hops but not a ton. Malt sweetness then makes an appearance but does not stay long. Aftertaste is not particularly long. Palate is not great. I had high hopes for this one but it fell flat.

650ml bottle from Binny’s in Chicago, Illinois. Orange-copper in colour with a thin lasting white head, light lacing. The aroma is quite hoppy, citrus, light pine, light malts. The flavour is moderately bitter, oranges, pine, caramel malts. Finishes long, bitter, warm.
