3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark golden hazy color with two fingers of off white head and good lacing. Aroma of citrus with mild tropical notes and some chives. Taste starts off with citrus and tropical flavors then grapefruit rind bitterness that borders on being astringent. A bit of sweetness then resiny pine and herbal flavors. Some spiciness in the aftertaste along with a building bitterness. Finishes bitter and semi dry. Mouthfeel is somewhat oily with a medium mouthfeel and high carbonation. Good but not great. Not the best hop profile for my palate but I did enjoy the spiciness.

sample at EBF, on the sweeter side but the tremendous amount of hops counter it well, big hop aroma.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer is an opaque amber color, and the head is large and white with the slightest tint of green to it. The aroma is very hop forward due to spruce, grass, resin, and citrus notes, and the taste continues to highlight those hops; the flavor is mildly bitter and balanced well with a touch of sourness and touch of sweetness. The bitter finish is expected, but the rest of the mouthfeel--soft carbonation, medium-thick body, and slightly sticky texture--complements the taste well.

Flavor is fairly bitter with mild tangerine and fruity notes, some mineral notes as well. Somewhat earthy, mild dankness. Full bodied. Oily textured. Average carbonation, long bitter finish. Above average.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Great hop nose and initial favor. Pretty good beer but it has a cloying and bitter aftertaste that will haunt your palette after each sip. Its pretty grassy and overly bitter on the back end. I hope they scale this back next year so it is more balanced.

(4 Hands Lupulin Festival - cask) cask version was my favorite at the festival. Gold with white head. Huge pine aroma. Flavor was abundant pine hops with a solid malt backbone. Don’t notice the alcohol. Excellent IAPA.

This was sent to me by Strykzone. Thanks Dave for this fantastic beer.
Pours a hazy apricot color with a really big rocky head that lasted seemingly forever and left lacing rings like Elmer’s glue. Really attractive. The nose is is caramel malts, tropical fruit, and grapefruit. Medium body and a sticky resinous mouthfeel. Flavor is intense, with citrus and pine hops just bombarding the palate. Finish is long, dry and the flavors just stay with you. Alcohol well hidden. I think most people are underrating this fantastic beer maybe because they drink it too cold. This was started at 58 degrees and it got even better as it warmed a few more degrees. Superb imperial IPA. Loved this one.
