5.2%ABV. Hefeweizen. Tapped out a dirty gold blonde. 3°SRM. Mouthfeel was carbonated and sudsy. There were some nice fruity sweet flavors and predictable wheat flour, proofing dough flavors all rounded off with a slightly yeasty umami. Quite pleasant. Nose had clean wheaty, dough-like aromas, not too strong, a little understated. Clean wheaty finish. No hop character.

On tap at 4 Pines, Manly on 12th September 2015. Hazy gold with dying whitish foam and spot lacing. Yeasty aroma with soft citrus fruit. Tangy citrus and sweet berries in-mouth. A sweet, yeasty finish with hints of sweetcorn. Zingy mouthfeel with light to medium body.

Pours cloudy straw with small white head. Aroma and flavour are quite lacking for the style, and the beer is a bit watery. This beer doesn’t have much of the yeast-derived flavour/aroma that is essential to a hefeweizen. Pretty poor effort from 4 pines. I suspect it’s due to using a cheaper, more convenient dry yeast rather than the far superior liquid alternatives. I hope its availability at least means it inspires more people to go try other, good hefeweizens.

Tap at brewery. Light aroma, normal weizen smell. Airy head dissipates quickly. Taste is right on the money, banana, bubblegum clove, etc. Overall, it comes off as light bodied, not thick and chewy like the German greats. Good effort though, taste is right on.

330ml bottle into glass. Aroma is wheaty banana, a little spicy. Cloudy but effervescent. Very thin film of foam. Taste is watery, insipid. Finish is creamy banana. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours a pale Gold with a light haziness. Aroma. a nice aroma of bubblegum and cinnamon. Flavour. On the nose this beer was much better, taste is what i’d best describe as a banana+lemon sorbet. Overall. an alright beer, but there are many better examples of this style.

bottle, thanks marty. yellow with a faint haze and short-lived head; plenty of banana in the aroma though with not much earthy spice to balance it; quite sweet, hints of lemon sorbet. pleasant though unmemorable

Pours a cloudy yellow with a foamy white head. Loads of banana aroma with a little citrus and clove. Flavour is banana dominated with some sweet wheaty and citrus flavours. Not a typical hefe but enjoyable nonetheless
