3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Stew41 (1455) - Woodend, - JAN 27, 2012
I’m a sucker for kolsch, from anywhere, and particularly when sipping in hot weather. This is a good ’un; light chalky malts with hiints of aniseed and mild spices. Zesty and sharp if not particularly dry. Dangerously sessionable.

Tap and bottle-Slight citrus aromas, light straw in colour. A clean and crisp beer. A good session beer.

To be fair I’ll put this in the re-rate bin! Bottle, chilled. A lively pour produces a dense, compact satin-sheened pad of white. Medium gold body, good clarity, with very fine carbonation and a lot of it. Quite a pronounced nose but nothing I would deem enticing. Play-doh, brine, pine-needles, raw white bread dough and just a little pear fruit come through, the Play-doh dominant. Rubbery, phenolic mess in the mouth, something has gone askew. Acridly bitter in back, a carbonic acid bite sets the tone upfront with a long lingering plastic and Play-dohesque finish. Very light bodied but soapy in feel, I’d say this sample has gone a little post-bottling ’funky’. Could not finish! (33cL, no date stamp)

Bottle from King&Godfree. Nice, very malty. Aromas of citrus, corn, honey, and caramel. Taste is very sweet, with average length. Palate is oily, and medium bodied. Yellow, with a frothy head.

Coarse head with light sweet nose. Citrus fruit flavours (marmalade) dominate, though is a little lacking to make it interesting.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sevenlee (535) - Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA - FEB 12, 2012
Pours a light yellow colour with a white head. Aroma is light malt with some spices and citrus notes. Taste is the same. A little watery. OK
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Dervock (303) - Emu plains, AUSTRALIA - NOV 23, 2011
Bottle - way over carbonated, less than half the bottle poured (carefully) equalled a full glass only problem that was 10% beer 90% head, pale yellow with lots of fizzy carbonation. Earthy, cardboard aroma, with a hint of something sharp, but not quite citrus. Sharp up front with some malt then a dry finish. Too much carbonation, might try again and see if the same thing happens.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 StuffWine (48) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 5, 2011
Seems more a Saison to me. Shrug. Light gold hue, clear, with well-sized white head. Aroma citrus and white bread. Tast immediately of marmalade citrus with yeasty hopps. Slightly thin on palate, but ok. Pleasant to drink, should be rated higher than it is. 5/3/6/2/14.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jade (311) - AUSTRALIA - OCT 15, 2011
Clear gold, little carbonation and no lasting head. Fruity, almost melon like aroma. Bitter crisp flavour with a cloying after taste. Actually not bad.

(Bottle) Hazy straw with decent white head. Pleasant citrusy aroma. Light body, good carbonation. Refreshing clean citrusy foretaste, a bit bland after that with some slightly harsh bitterness in the finish. Overall, OK but not special.
