A colorful deep Ruby Amber appearance. Aromas of Pine and Grapefruit overlay a malt background. On the palate full bodied malty flavors with a tight and bitter finish.

Bottle. Pale amber with an inch of white head. Aroma of pine, citrus and light caramel. Light sweetness with caramel and a little biscuit, bitterness is very solid and takes over quickly. Piney bitter finish. Not much going on under the hops and they’re a bit harsh.

Pours amber with a large, lasting head. Nose shows lots of sweet, clean malt and floral fruity hops. A fair whack of hops shows in the taste as well, with bold piney, resinous notes and hints of tropical fruit amongst the sweet malt. Finishes strongly with a audacious, slightly metallic bitterness. Too much carbonation creates an overly dry finish.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear copper amber, with a small and rapidly diminishing white head. The nose has a buttery aroma laid over a touch of pine, and is reminiscent of a bitter in some ways. A trace of pine hops to start, moving into a quite nice butterscotch flavour, and some slightly artificial popcorn. The finish is quite grainy, with white bread notes. There’s nothing especially wrong with this beer, but nothing especially right about it either. It’s just very middle of the road, as I would expect from an APA.

330ml bottle. Copper in colour highlighted with some red flecks throughout. Thin and wispy head. Caramel popcorn aromas that are inviting. Malty butterscotch glavour. Well balanced and full and silky in the mouth.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2012 From a 330ml bottle on 12/5/2010. This is a nice, rather subtle APA. Has a fruity, grassy aroma. In the mouth, it’s malty and sweetish, with dried fruit notes (perhaps raisins), and has a satisfying hoppy finish. Not a big beer for its style, but nicely balanced none the less. Rating 3.6 Re-rate on 8/9/2012. I was perhaps just a bit generous before, but stll quite a good pale.

Draught at the brewpub, a light copper. Caramel on the nose. Fruity with a light toffee malt in the mouth, on a light toasted palate.

Bottle. Tasted as part od a beer & food matching lunch. Pours a nice golden orange with minimal white head. Aroma shows some malt with standard APA hop aromas. Plenty of citrus and pine needles. Flavours were much the same though the malt probably dominates a little more. A nice APA.

Draught at Australian Beer Festival, Sydney. Orange gold body, white foam. Hop driven aroma, good bit of grapefruit and pine, American sort of affair, some malt leeches through caramal notes. Medium bodied, towards the dry side. Decent flavour, get more of the citrusy American hop character, maybe not as pronounced as the nose would suggest, sweetened somewhat by caramel maltiness. Finishes reasonably bitter, somewhat grassy. Decent Aussie-made APA, better than most i’d say, without being outstanding.
