Nice tasty use of hops in this pale ale. Nice amount of bitterness and aroma as a result that make this an interesting while still being a sessionable beer.

Bottle. Hazy orange pour with a foamy beige head that lasts a little while. Hoppy aroma has notes of grapefruit, lime, mandarine, grass and pepper. Flavour is also pretty hoppy but the fruit notes are a lot more restrained and the spicy, grassy notes more pronounced, and also the malty caramel comes through more than in the aroma. Slightly oily mouthfeel with soft carbonation and a lengthy bitter finish. Fairly decent APA, tasty and easy to drink, but at the same time there isnít really anything to distinguish this from the scores of other similarly good APAís that are readily available.

(bottle) Clear amber copper with no head. Sweet fruity aroma with hints of perfume and caramel. Medium body, light carbonation. Flavour has nice sweetly fruity start with a satisfyingly bitter finish. Nice beer, but no surprises.

Tap and bottle- pleasing grapefruit hop aroma. Well balanced malt and hop profiles. A good hop bitterness finish. Also a good session beer.

Bit of a surprise packet this. Genuine hop punch with tight defiant grapefruit and bitterness. Some subtle malt sweetness is layered in but plays second fiddle to the hops. Surprisingly short finish. Iíll be back for more.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2012 probably the best of the bottled 4 pines beers, im happy to have it when the little creatures use by date is soon. heavy high alpha american hop aroma, slightly dirty somehow though, whether from yeast or hops not sure. some maltiness and caramel and decent bitterness, long lasting hop aftertaste and very dry finish - too dry - but with lots of diacetyl instead of body.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours an amber colour. Aroma is a bit of pine, grapefruit with some caramel. Taste is also fruity and malty with some toffee leading to a medium bitter finish. I think itís way too carbinated so mouthfeel is too fizzy which is better suited to a Witbier not a Pale Ale. Overall not bad.
