I’ve tasted most 4 Pines beers and find them all to be a bit average. I’d never be unhappy drinking them, but I wouldn’t buy a case if down the Bottlo. However, this Stout was a very nice surprise. It is full of flavour and a thorough delight to drink. I would prefer drinking this over a lot of other easily accessed Stouts you might find in Dan Murphys.

From bottle in porter glass. Pours black with tan head and hints of choc and coffee on the nose as with many stouts. There is a bit more smokiness here and a crisp dry finish. Get this bad boy into space!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
5.1%ABV. Dry Stout.
Tapped out a rich black. 40°SRM
Mouthfeel was like ice coffee with low carbonation. Palate had flavors of coffee, toffee, butterscotch, bamboo charcoal, burnt toast, dark wheat toast, black bread and some faint dark fruit flavors. But this was predominantly a smoky flavor profiled ale with some nice piquant hints of peaty smokiness.
Mild hops in the in the finish.
Goes on Favorites List!

Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell - London. Big thanks to Big Dave! Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. Some milk chocolate present, a bit of light rubber, earth, mild char. Light bodied with average carbonation. Toasted brown bread in the finish, some milk chocolate, moderate dirt and earth bitterness. Fair.

Right from the first wiff you can tell this is going to be a good one. Malty and toasty aroma with beautiful rich coffee, caramel and chocolate taste. Fairly dry finish. I’d happily drink plenty of these!
