2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Stew41 (1572) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - SEP 17, 2011
Yep definitely dry in style and if reviewing in this context quite a well made beer. Flavours are a little lean and actually quite hard to get a clear read on. No chocolate on my read, rather dry savoury roast and tang, but all a bit generic, hard to read and indeed perhaps a little unfriendly.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 maneliquor (1552) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 23, 2011
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a dark chestnut brown with a small beige head. Lots of chocolate and roasted malts on the nose. A good dose of cocoa in the taste with a lingering roastness. A decent amount of carbonation and a solid mouthfeel for an easy drinking stout. Best 4 Pines I’ve had so far

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Davros (1473) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUN 19, 2011
Pours black with a large tan head.
Nose shows chocolate, treacle and raisins. Nice stuff.
Big roasty flavours, lots of chocolate and molasses. Pretty full on.
Low carbonation works well with the rich flavours.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 BarossaLuke (497) - AUSTRALIA - JUN 15, 2011
Dry is the operative word here for this stout. A medium bodied moderately roasty and bitter stout with quite a dry finish. In my mind the dryness is over done and the thinnness of the beer was dissapointing.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ComradeK (731) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - JUN 9, 2011
330ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a small tan head, which fades quite rapidly, leaving minimal lacing. Strong up-front bitterness, with some peppery notes, introduces a smooth, darkly bitter, middle, with cocoa and espresso notes. To finish, there is a brief shot of warming, Scotch-like, alcohol. Quite a nice stout, by far the most pleasant product I have tried from this otherwise quite mediocre brewery.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 29, 2011
Bottle at the beermentv Hair of the Dog Breakfast at Beer DeLuxe. Very much enjoyed this. The roast and bitterness just right to make this a very drinkable Stout. One you could sit on all night.

Bottle 330ml. Great beer, with a very nice nose. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, coffee, and floral notes. Taste is sweet, with balancing bitterness, and good length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Black, with a thin head.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jonno (2001) - JAPAN - MAY 22, 2011
Good solid dark pour with a big pillowy head. Slightly roasty nose with lots of chocolate and cocoa. Good body and very slammable. A bit flinty oily with a good dose of chocolate and an enjoyable slightly sweet finish. Not overly roasty - which I like. Would be great on hand tap.
