A dry Irish style stout, presenting almost black, bearing a generous tan head. The aroma profile is of coffee, chocolate and caramel malts. These are matched on the pallet with a full bodied, smooth finish and a balancing bitterness. Currently being tested to become the first certified ‘space beer’ in the world! 330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with some red highlights at the edges. Thinning tan head with moderate carbonation. Aromas of coffee, aniseed and dark chocolate come through. The taste is rather lighter than the nose suggests. It shows some dark fruits at the front end before a black coffee bitterness comes through in the mid-palate. Quite light-bodied with a lingering dark chocolate aftertaste. Good.

Black colour with a crispy, dark head. Strong aroma of roasted malt and coffee with a note of hops and pine. Taste of roasted malt, dark chocolate and with a nice coffee bitterness that stays around in the aftertaste. Also a slight dry taste with hops.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with no head and thin lacing. Fairly light nose, dark malt with a touch of leather and soy. Taste is fairly light too, roasty cocoa and caramel. Body is a touch watery for a stout. Still a solid effort from another Australian brewery.

Tap at the sail. Jet black pour. Roasted coffee and chocolate. Taste is much the same. Space beer apparently. Eh ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Probably the best beer from 4 pines. A solid and quaffable dry stout, nothing in it to blow you away though.

Good stout. Not much going on on the nose, appearance is uniform black with a good tan head. Taste is malty and roasty and a tit bit of coffee and licorice. Palate mellow but sweet and bitter. A good stout, layered but not complex and simple but not boring. A good drinking stout

Pitch black poor with a nice superb mocha head that laces the glass really well. Bit thin for me overall in taste aroma and flavour. Drinkable but just not tasty enough a stout for me.

Very nice balanced stout, not too sweet ,bitter enough, great dark flavours. Sharing with others, one thought it could be sweeter, one thought it was just right. Drink it it is good.

Really starting to like this beer of late, lovely smooth coffee dominated aroma, with coffee being the dominant taste in this beer. What I like most is the very moderate creaminess, not too thick as to make it unsessionable, but thick enough to really satisfy a stout craving. This also contributes to a very pleasant mouth feel, which is soft, sticky and a little bitter. A fairly simple brew, but the balance is key here and this beer nails it for me.
