COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oaxacan-Style Dark Ale brewed with piloncillo sugar and chile ancho. 5 Vulture is a deep amber-colored ale with complex caramel aromas with toasted sugar notes and a long, elegant spicy finish. Roasted ancho chile is used to add depth and complexity, without adding heat or strong chile flavors.

Pours a very dark brown color with a modest, quick fading, light tan head. Aroma has a sweet molasses and malty nose, light toasted notes with a touch of chocolate. Flavor starts off with a very sweet molasses kick followed up by a nice sweet/toasted malt combo and finishes with a light peppery touch. Body is low in carbonation, smooth with a light sugary feeling and light heat from the pepper. Overall not a bad brew. The pepper doesnít dominate the flavor and add just a touch of heat which works very nicely with this brew.

I really had high expectations for 5 Rabbit 5 Vulture based on other 5 Rabbit brews Iíve had, but this one definitely didnít deliver. Drank in recommended tulip glass. Tan head dissipates very quickly on top of the dark pour. Not much aroma -- maybe a hint of caramel. Taste is sweet and syrupy -- kind of like a Coke that has been sitting around. There just isnít enough of the ancho chile notes to claim it is there. Very little heat. Given what I paid for a six pack, I am disappointed with 5 Vulture.

The aroma is sweet and spicy with hints of fruit and chocolate. The appearance is brown with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall a killer beer.

Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 12 oz bottle. Pours a lazy dark brown, little to no head. Aroma has some interesting earthy notes with some peppers and topsoil. Flavor is earthy as well with some bittersweet bakerís chocolate, some peppery accents, a touch of day old black coffee. Mouthfeel has a decent thickness to it. Not half bad.

I think this beer deserve a better rating. Light malt aroma, caramel with spice. Good flavor...sweet roasted malts and of course the ancho chilies come through on the finish.

6 pack from Wallabyís. I really enjoyed talking to these guys at GABF and I loved their beer, so I was stoked to see 5 Rabbit on the shelves out here. This beer is a very dark red with a small head. Chili is there, but I could use more. Itís a sweet smelling beer with notes of cola, toffee and a bit of chocolate. The palate is medium with pretty active carbonation. Anchor chili comes out more in the flavor, which provides nice balance. I could still use more pepper and definitely a little more heat. Still, itís a nice beer. A malty, sweeter, well balanced ale.

Well, anything featuring a buzzard on the label canít get high marks for appearance. Dark brown with fine carbonation. Malty, doughy aroma with some acidity and roast. Tangy, brown sugar and molasses tones, slow burn spicy. Slightly heavy body. Standard 12 oz longneck. New Leaf Market.

I give them credit for trying something different with the ancho chiles, but it just doesnít work.

Bottle from Binnyís in Bloomingdale, IL. Dark cola pour with a small ring head. I really like the aroma on this - malty, hint of chocolate, and some chili spice. Taste is pleasant - mild roast, mild sweet, and again a hint of the roasted chili late but not spicy hot or anything. Decent brew.

Poured from the bottle of a six pack into a pint glass, smells sweet like malt, good negra. As is with most good cooking when anchos are used the spice makes an appearance about 15 seconds after the drink and makes a spicy and salty mouth feel that makes one instinctively take another drink. I always use a bottle of beer in my chili and Iím saving the 6th from this pack for my next one, canít wait.
