3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle version. Pours a amber brown with a tall beige head. Sweet malty aroma candy like with a touch of yeast and banana. Sweet caramel malts with a touch of roasted malt. Red fruit flavors underneath that black pepper ancho spice. No real heat to the spice but a bitter lasting black pepper finish. I enjoyed the tap version a little more which seemed to have more dark fruits in it, but this one is pretty tasty as well.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Capone’s. Pours clear dark brown with ruby edges and a 2-finger tan head. Nose is brown sugary malt, mild hops, earthiness, nuts. Tastes malty, with hops, vinous fruit, earthy chile as it warms. Unique, and the peppers emerge more late, and work pretty well with this.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours ruby-brown with a small off white-head. Aroma reminds me of a lager with a little bit of spiciness-- not a nose I really enjoy. Taste starts off slightly sweet and sour, then a little bitterness comes through. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Something about this is just tastes like a lager, and I don’t really like it. Not picking up on the chile ancho at all. Not bad, but not memorable. Would not buy again (and def. not worth $10.99 for a 6-pack).

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap @ Monk’s Pub: Deep amber, nearly brown with golden highlights, fading head but good lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, burnt sugar, pepper, some prune and raisin, herbal, flowery and a bit wierd. The taste starts roasty with lots of caramel and butterscotch sweetness. Some wet graininess and herbal veggie overtones. Light spice and ashy tones upon the finish but not enough the clean up the palate from the Diacetyl and Dimethyl Sulfides found lurking about. The mouth feel is moderately carbonated, pretty smooth (too smooth for a brew with Ancho Chiles if you ask me) with a ashy finish. Meh, I fully expected more, either step up and give us a spicy beer or do not waste my time.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cortesy of hombrepalo. Sugary spice aroma very good. Amber body with beige head. Roated spice with some sugar sweetener. Thought this would be more harsh like a Vultue attacking my taste buds but it wasn’t rather smooth on thee palate with the spicey chilli aftertaste. Good brew thx Horacio.
