COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oaxacan-Style Dark Ale brewed with piloncillo sugar and chile ancho. 5 Vulture is a deep amber-colored ale with complex caramel aromas with toasted sugar notes and a long, elegant spicy finish. Roasted ancho chile is used to add depth and complexity, without adding heat or strong chile flavors.

Bottle. Somewhat thin looking deep brown body with reddish highlights and a big tan fluffy head. Aromas are nuts, toffee, roast and a little vegetable matter (ancho?). Flavor is sweet and dusty with a little bit of smokey heat in the finish. Not much, but it is there. The sweetness is distracting though, and the whole beer comes across as a little under attenuated in my book.

Better than its 44 point rating if you ask me. Dark brown color. Aroma is malty, similar to a porter. Taste is similar to a lighter porter, malty, chocolate, with a tiny bit of sourness, very little hops and a tinge of chile spiciness, but not very much. Itís OK.

Well, anything featuring a buzzard on the label canít get high marks for appearance. Dark brown with fine carbonation. Malty, doughy aroma with some acidity and roast. Tangy, brown sugar and molasses tones, slow burn spicy. Slightly heavy body. Standard 12 oz longneck. New Leaf Market.

I was actually really excited about this one, but was sort of disappointed. I was really pumped for some chile flavor, but there wasnít much of one. Pours brown with very little head. Touch of smoke, little chocolate, but fairly thin.

At Rockwells. A robust brown ale that starts malty and sweet but in the end left a spicy tingling in the mount. Serving: Tap

Cortesy of hombrepalo. Sugary spice aroma very good. Amber body with beige head. Roated spice with some sugar sweetener. Thought this would be more harsh like a Vultue attacking my taste buds but it wasnít rather smooth on thee palate with the spicey chilli aftertaste. Good brew thx Horacio.

Bottle. Poured clear brown color with an average to large light brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted caramel malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Heavy sweet brew.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2012 Smells like beer with a bit of pepper in it. Tastes like beer with a bit of pepper in it. Not as overpowering as some of the other ancho chile in it. Might be a good into to spicy beer. Otherwise, not a whole lot going on in this one.

Bottle purchased at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell. Clear reddish brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, lager yeast and peppers. Malty and caramelly flavor with some toffee and a slight peppery finish.

Belmont bottle. Different overall. Kinda reminded me of a lighter porter with a hint of sweetness. I really didnít get much from the chilis; maybe a little spice but no heat. Fine but a touch thin overall.
