Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a beige head. Aroma is of smoked chili, caramel and toffee and some dark fruits notes with cocoa bean. The flavor follows the nose with subtle chili spice and the smoked chili flavor, some caramel, toffee, dark fruits and cocoa bean. The body is medium with a silky mouth feel. Overall an interesting brew.

Deep nutty Amber hue with a thin light beige head that gives a nice earthy and slightly caramelly nose with a hint of peppery tones. Crisp and mellow flavor that’s smooth and caramelly, a touch leafy and earthy, just a whisper of pepper head and a full bready/toast finish.

Dark brown coloured body with a small tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramelised sugars, earth, toffee and a touch of light chiles as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong roasted flavours of malt, sugar and a bit of grain along with some very subdued and stale hop flavours and the slightest bit of heat noticeable. Aftertaste shows some grain, toffee, light lactose and a hint of coffee bitterness as well. Overall, not a horrible beer, and while not a great option given Chicago’s offerings, not as bad as other 5 Rabbit beers I’ve had. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Chicago (Streeterville location), Illinois on 13-Nov-2015 for US$2,49 sampled in my hotel in Streeterville, Chicago on 15-November-2015.

Pours a cloudy brown with nearly no head. Very unassuming nose. Faint notes of chocolate syrup and British porter. Soft with mild carbonation burn. Subtle astringency. Strong horehound hard candy flavor throughout. Mild undertone of chocolate. A bit of a metallic note.

Bottle - Looks like cola, smells like a sweet loaf of dark bread. Taste is the same with a little bit of chile heat on the finish. Not really much here--pretty simple and one-note with the chiles adding a bit of something different. But it doesn’t taste all that great and comes off limp rather than bright. Pass.

Interesting beverage. Medium body. Spices are even and don’t run you over. Earthy, grassy, and almost gritty.Tap

Aroma was pretty good for the style - caramel malt, fruit, anise, hint of chili. Flavor falls down a lot along with body. In tasting I get marshmallow, burnt toast, light syrup, a little fruit, some bitter. Thin body. Wouldn’t drink again.

Opaque mahogany with no head. Somewhat syrupy medium-full body with sharp carbonation.

aroma: roasted malt, soy sauce, worchestershire sauce, faint smoke.

taste: sweet roasted malts, licorice, soy sauce, dark fruits, some acidity, with moderate heat in the finish. Some crystal malt sharpness and rubbery phenols come out as it warms.

pepper character comes across as somewhat harsh, seemingly due to the roasted malt, as the fruitiness is lost, but the stem/coffee notes remain.

bottle @ The Andersons / Columbus OH --- Clear dark brown color, light beige rim head, lace dots. Taste is lightly toasted malt that moves through a non-carbonated swallow to a finish that features light hops and light fire. It’s okay, but certainly nothing exceptional.

12 oz single bottle from Molly’s Spirits. Dark brown appearance with a small tan head that dissipated to nothing quickly. Aroma of chile peppers, brown sugar, caramel malt and toffee. Similar flavor, adding chocolate, cinnamon, mild earthy bitterness and a light spicy finish. Light to medium body, a bit dull and watery, with a light dry feel. Not awful, but kind of unpleasant and tough to drink. Pairing: Phish - Vultures -> Limb By Limb, from 09/21/1999, Pima County Fairgrounds, Tucson, AZ
