COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gringolandia is an affectionate term used by many Latinos to refer to the United States. We’re using the term to paint a picture of our collective 5 Rabbit experience as a Latin-based company in the exciting melting pot that is 21st century Chicagoland, and to brew beers that reflect that experience. It’s our tribute to the American craft beer movement.

After staking out our Latin credentials with several exciting, ingredient-based beers in the “5″ series, we felt it was time to expand our range. These beers are our own interpretations of some popular craft beer styles, changed up a little to make them our own distinct beers different from anyone else’s.

Super Pils is a classic pilsner character in a big, bold beer that drinks like an IPA. Euro-pils character, but bolder. Cool-fermented with our house ale yeast for a clean, smooth flavor with just the barest hint of fruitines. Perfect balance of malt and hops in classic pils fashion—just stronger. Unfiltered for better body and foam.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a full retentive white head. Aroma is lemon and grass. Taste is sweet pale malt, bread dough and a slightly off putting medicinal taste that I believe is the initial stages of oxidation. Hop taste is good; not overly bitter and with a grassy character. ABV shows up only as a bit of warmth after the swallow. Not bad; if anything it has a problem with balance.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2015 12oz bottle poured into a shaker. The aroma is citrus sweet and sugary with secondary notes of honey and a light pie crust. It’s an oily looking, murky yellow-honey beer with a bit of thin white head that has a spotty retention and only a touch of lace. The taste is a medium sweet and medium bitter sweet dominant up front with a strengthening bitter at the end. The beer is syrupy slick with a light fuzz cabonation and a surprisingly medium body. There are flavors of dough, grapefruit, mango, and honey on the tongue with a finish that’s bitter citrus and mineral with a light spice. The aftertaste is waxy citrus; sharp, but brief.

5 Rabbit Gringolandia Super Pils is bolder than a regular pils, but definitely in the same category. Moderate aroma rising from an amber pour with ample head. Taste is bold with a nice hop floral. The higher ABV is not noticeable in the taste but it does creep up on you. There is a slightly odd finish to this beer that I have also noticed in other 5 Rabbit beers. Can’t place it, but will update if I have an epiphany. Super Pils might be super compared to a regular pils, but just a little above average brew otherwise.

12oz bottle. Hazy yellow-tan. Soapy foamy white head. A mess of a beer. Strong Pale Lager sugary nonsense, but with better ingredients. In no way is this beer really enjoyable. A chore to drink. Tastes very Eastern European...in a bad way. The aroma just gets worse and worse. Bad stuff.

Aroma of peppery hops, and some sweet bread. Pale yellow color with a white head. Sweet, bready malt flavor up front. Strange, sweet aftertaste immediately, bitterness is not strong enough to balance, Finish has that off sweetness and some average bitter notes at the end. Watery mouth feel. Meh.

Light orange clear pour from 12oz bottle to glass. Thin white head. Vanilla and bananna aroma . Dank basement earthy notes - fruity taste. Nothing spectacular but a decent beer

Clear yellow with lots of bubbles and a nice, white head. The aroma has a nice bready pils malt character, and some strong German noble type hops that lend very floral and moderate citrusy and lemongrass notes. The yeast shows up in the flavor as this is not as clean as a lager, but the slight estery character goes well with everything else. Drinks like a much lower gravity beer, with a decent amount of bitterness and lingering hop flavors. Nice.

Pale yellow pour with a small, white head. The floral hop aroma has fruity notes and orange peel. It has a medium body with smooth texture and average carbonation. The tastes is well balanced with sweetness in the beginning and finishing slightly bitter with a touch of alcohol.

From BandC. Pretty good strong pils, grassy herbal hops a little sweet due to the strength, not cloying. Serving: Bottle

Single bottle from Binny’s, bought in May. Poured in a tall lager glass. Pours with a big head that leaves some sudsy foam behind, iver a deeper yellow body than most. Smell is that warm nostalgic smell of the way your first beer tasted, maybe sipped in a bowling alley when dad wasn’t looking. Just a tad grainy and restrained in sweetness. Taste is a nice pilsener, or maybe more of a Dortmunder taste: dry malts with little sweetness, slightly prickly bubbles and a note of pepper from German (I believe) hops. A comforting reminder of how beer used to taste before we knew better.
