COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gringolandia is an affectionate term used by many Latinos to refer to the United States. We’re using the term to paint a picture of our collective 5 Rabbit experience as a Latin-based company in the exciting melting pot that is 21st century Chicagoland, and to brew beers that reflect that experience. It’s our tribute to the American craft beer movement.

After staking out our Latin credentials with several exciting, ingredient-based beers in the “5″ series, we felt it was time to expand our range. These beers are our own interpretations of some popular craft beer styles, changed up a little to make them our own distinct beers different from anyone else’s.

Super Pils is a classic pilsner character in a big, bold beer that drinks like an IPA. Euro-pils character, but bolder. Cool-fermented with our house ale yeast for a clean, smooth flavor with just the barest hint of fruitines. Perfect balance of malt and hops in classic pils fashion—just stronger. Unfiltered for better body and foam.

An excellent Pils! Most Ratebeer members favor the heavier beers, especially IPAs and Imperial IPAs. So, the lighter beers (Pils, lagers and wheats) never seem to rate as high as heavier beers. Do not be deceived by the ratings, Gringolandia Super Pils is an excellent Pils. A bold, clean, crisp beer with a hint of fruit. I almost made the mistake of not trying this beer due to lower ratings, but my local package store clerk strongly recommended Gringolandia. A great beer.

12 oz bottle from Sonoma Cellars in Delavan, WI, served a bit above fridge temp in a König Pils glass. Large head (average by pils standards) sits atop a medium clear gold body, decays slowly...honey-sweet-malt dominated nose, touches of sweet flowers, hints of apple...pretty sweet body, on the edge of being too sweet, but it feels like it all comes from the malt, a vague hint of caramelized sugar it with that solid pils malt...body is very full, carbonation low to moderate; this is almost the opposite of the Omnipollo pils I had just beforehand - heavy and sweet while that was bitter and light and frothy - and both go a little too far to those extremes, not having the balance to make them really good though both have some quality embedded I think. On the whole this too-sweet version wins out over the too-fizzy and dry example, just barely.

Approximately 7 oz. from a 12 oz. bottle, consumed on 7-20-16. Pours a hazy, pale golden with off-white head. Good lacing. Honeyed, juicy aroma. Nice, floral hops in the pleasant smell. Spicy, perfumed aroma and flavor. Sweet, tangy, honeyed, vegetal, saison-esque taste. Unremarkable and unmemorable palate effects. Overall, too sweet for my tastes and just not very good.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a nice late spring evening. I didn’t take tasting notes, but it was good. Nice and refreshing, very easy to drink, very abundant frothy head, unique pilsener, would have again. Now it’s time to enter more than 75 characters to this rating.

16 oz. can. Pours a hazed golden pour with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of bread and strong hop notes. Flavor is bright, fruity hops and mild bread malt. Medium bodied, above average carbonation. Finishes fruity.

3/4/16. On tap at The Craft Bar - Grand Blvd. For Frank. Clear golden pour under a nice off-white head, good lacing. Great aroma, doughy pils malts, grassy, a spicy kick, crackery. Disappointing flavor, bracingly bitter and mildly astringent, the malt backbone is too sweet, grassy hops. Would be top notch with a better flavor. Eh.

2/19/2016: Sweet and grainy with some floral/herbal hop flavor and mild level of bitterness, fruity with a slight sourness in the finish; hazy pale golden color and any average body and mouth feel; although the alcohol is well-hidden, this beer just okay (average at best) as it’s just not what I want when I am in the mood for a Pils. High alcohol or not, a Pilsner should be crisp, refreshing, clean, and sharply hopped and this is none of that. Draught at Mita’s in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Aroma is wet grain and very ripe fruit. Flavor is similar to nose. I’m not too keen on pilsner’s that lean on the sweet side. This beer isn’t for me.
