A beer that captures the summer fun of Paletas, the Spanish word for "popsicles". Brewed with Brazilian guava, pink peppercorn, tarragon and orange blossom water, this sessionable wheat beer is a more sophisticated alternative to shandies and radlers.

#1 - Guava with pink peppercorn and tarragon

A gift from one of the cousins from the barrio. Poured nicely onto my kitchen table as it spilled over my Bubba Gump Shrimp cup. Reminds me of a strawberry/guava desert I had as a kid. Poundable. Not exactly manly. Watery. sweet.

Draft at Brixieís. Looks more like a mix of milk and grapefruit juice. But I guess thatís how itís supposed to turn out. What could it have but a big guava smell in the nose, with a bit of taunts that could be some PNW hops, even Amarillo. Wish I could claim the experience of having bought paletas off a sidewalk cart, but instead I have to take a stab at the experience. And itís like a fruity drink all right with an extra spiciness that I wonder about its source. Is fiasco spicy? Thereís no mention of the hops involved, and only this RB listing mentions the peppercorn and tarragon. Ah, so much I still need to learn; luckily Iím an eager student. Ask I can really say is that itís truly fruity, unexpectedly spicy, and delicious!

6 pack of 12 Oz bottles. Shocking pink color. Sweet sugar aroma with some wheat beer body. Melted popsicle, which I guess they are sort of going for. It could use more bite for my palate. I like the attempt. It gets massive bonus points for originality.

On tap, poured into a small tulip. The beer is a unique, creamy pink hue with a white dense head that has a moderate retention and light lace - initially though of a watermelon smoothie as far as appearance. The aroma is mellow; guava and grass. The taste is a medium light sweet with just a touch of sour and bitter. The beer is thin and fizzy with a light body thatís flavor is a mellow, creamy guava with a clean finish of grass that leaves no aftertaste. Itís a very shandy like beer thatís refreshing.

On tap at the brewery. Pours pink with a white head. Looks like the pink slime from that Ghostbusters film. Smells like guava, tropical fruit, and wheat. Tastes like a popsicle, in a good way. Very sweet, with lots of tropical fruit. You. Can definitely taste the guava. Very dry, but not hard to drink. Very light, but not watery. Way better than I ever expected it to be.

Poured from a tap. Thick murky light yellow color, medium frothy white head. Grapefruit and guava aroma. Medium body with a grapefruit and guava flavor and a light finish. Tastes like a fruit smoothie. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at share. Pours a hazy golden orange with head. Aroma is fruity with orange, lemon, and pineapple. Flavor is odd with the fruits and I guess the tarragon from the description. Hard to describe. It was somewhat flavorful but kind of weird on my palate. Easy to drink.

On tap @ Beer Camp - Chicago. Pour is pale yellow/slight orange with a medium white head. Aroma and flavor of peach, lemon peel, pepper, and yeast. Finish is slightly sweet with more pepper spice. Strange.

Draft sample. Poured cloudy golden color with an average fizzy white head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate yeast and citrus aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet & spice flavor with a medium spice & sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable beer.

Pours - how would you describe it? - like a coppery colored beer infused with milk. A milky copper color with a thick but quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is guava-like fruit and peppery Belgian-like yeast. Taste is a little watery with faint guava up front. Some light maltiness and very faint bitterness come in for the mid and the finish. A little guava creeps back in at the end too. Overall, the flavors could probably be a little more distinct.
