3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ChainGangGuy (3834) - Canton, USA - SEP 12, 2010
Appearance: Presents itself a clear, dark copper-hued body with a sudsy, whitish head.
Smell: While not overly effusive, you’re greeted with scents of lightly toasted pale malts, seasonal citrus fruits, and dried herbs.
Taste: Pale malts for the most part with traces of lightly toasted barley imparting a growing graininess as it goes. Very light hint of sweet caramel. The hops are pithy, citric, and slight grassy and deliver a good amount of citrus fruit flavor. Medium-plus bitterness. Remains bitter and increasingly dry until the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A good, simple APA that paired favorably with the cheese-topped burger.

Draft. This beer was a surprise! Very nice hoppy APA. Close to an IPA. I struggled to let the wife have this.

Pours orange amber color. Huge hop aroma. Loads of citrus, grapefruit. A touch of spruce. Flavor is a nice malt caramel sweetness. Then a rich charge of bold hop bitterness. Nice dry hopping along with a flavorful well hopped, toasted barley sweetness. Very enjoyable. I really enjoy an over-hopped American Pale Ale over an IPA.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cybercat (1892) - Georgia, USA - JUL 25, 2010
Pours a nice transparent dark amber with a decent white head. Aroma is strongly hoppy with an evergreen undertone and a hint of grapefruit - more like an IPA than a pale ale. The hoppy, fruity flavor has a piney tone and hints of grapefruit and apple. The rough, fizzy texture leaves behind a pleasing tingle.
