COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
HopGasm is Brewmaster Kevin McNerney’s innaugural release at 5 Seasons. HopGasm is a west coast India Pale Ale, bold in every sense. It invites you with a nose far more intruiging than most IPAs. We use 5 different hops, including Simcoe and Amarillo, which gives an incredibly rich bouquet and a pleasurable mouthfeel. It’s a bit over 7% ABV, but a solid malt backbone and a sumptuous aftertaste will make you want multiple HopGasms.

Comes out of the tap a beautiful, cloudy, dark honey-golden - very appetizing. Aroma is rich, fruity and hoppy, sweet but not cloying, inviting a taste. Flavor is well rounded, strongly hoppy with a nutty and fruity undertone and just a touch of sweetness. Texture is lively, tingly and jazzy, yet smooth and refreshing. Finish is hoppy and a little sweet. Very satisfying and drinkable.

Copper color Screaming citrus hops in the nose. Grapefruit abounds. Oily as hell. Medium body with a great backbone. This is exactly what an IPA should be.

Draft pint at the Prado brewpub. Beauty of a pour ... Deep muddy orange with a solid pile of foam to top it off. With the first whiff, you know the name is no gimmic ... There’s a ton o’ hops jammed in this. Thick and viscuous, this drinks with a punch to the gut, rich with citric hops and a full up malt basis. Very nice.

Holy sheot this beer is awesome! This poured an amber color. The aroma contains some caramel, toffee, lemons, and grapefruit. The flavor is rather bitter with citrus and caramel. This is like an amber ale on crack, I love it!

On tap at Prado. Pours a hazy copper with a small off-white head. Aroma is really great, earthy, citrus, and sweet malt. Solid. Taste is great as well. Lots of citrus hop and simcoe is detectable as well. A very substantial malt backbone. This is one of the best IPAs I’ve had in a long time. Mouth is sticky and full. Very nice.

Appearance: Lightly hazy, orange-copper body with a small, whitish head. Smell: Excessively fragrant floral and brightly tropical bouqeut with scents of orange blossoms and grapefruit pith over a thin layer of sweet-scented maltiness. Taste: Sweet, honeyed maltiness, a hint of grain and then WHAM -- a pithy, citric hop bitterness and flavors of tangerine, grapefruit, even pine. Sweet hints reappear randomly amongst the hoppiness. Bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Yes, there’s a touch of stickiness to the mouthfeel. Drinkability: Recommended. Smooth and awash in rich, hoppy flavors, yet still retains enough of a malt base to keep things from becoming caustic.

Best of the night. Big hops in the nose, flavor, with a huge sweet malt backbone. Words are failing me but I kept coming back to this one. VERY GOOD

On tap at 5 Seasons. Poured clear medium amber with a creamy cap of off-white head. The aroma was resiny and juicy with pine sap, grapefruit, and floral notes most prevalent.. caramel and some dark fruit backed the hops well. The flavor had rich, alcohol-spiked caramel and bready notes at the core with the same assertive hoppage around (pine and grapefruit more than others).. spicy, warmer finish. Medium-plus bodied with ideal carbonation on the palate.. spicy, bitter, and engaging. Excellent brew!
