3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheBeerOrg (2136) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - APR 29, 2006
Pours dark burgundy with a thin, mostly receding head. Aroma of toasted pale malts, cloves, and apples. Taste is sweet and yeasty, more phenolic than estery. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and sticky with lush carbonation. This is just a bit too sweet and sticky, a bit more dryness and a few more fruity esters would have made this delicious.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - APR 26, 2006
Tap at the 5 seasons. Not many brewers make a belgian brown ale, and even the ones from Belgium arent that mindblowing. This, however, was really great, and different. Pours a nice deep brown with a good fluffy tan head and nice lace in the snifter. Aroma is of spices, phenols banana and other fruity esters, ripe apple, prunes and raisin. Malty sweet flavor with more phenols toward the end. Sweet candied fruits, apricots, plum and more raisin. Smooth and yeasty, but not dirty or harsh. This was a great belgian interpretation of a belgian brown- better and smoother than Corsendonk.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 doubleipa (224) - Georgia, USA - APR 17, 2006
Served in a nice snifter. At least a half inch of creamy, tan head. Fair amount of lacing with a head that last pretty long. Aroma has hops, though subdued, maly, and yeast, with malt the predominate aroma. This is another great beer from the 5’s. It was served a bit too cold. As my wife commented, I wish they would list the ABV of their beers.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RateandPillage (426) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - DEC 12, 2004
This doesn’t appear to be one of the higher rated 5 Season’s brews, but it is one of my favorites there. A very nice balance of color, malt, aroma, alcohol warmth with little hop aroma and flavor. Great with dessert.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - OCT 22, 2004
Served in a snifter. Hazy brown with a reddish tint. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Bananas and brown sugar. Flavor moderately sweet. Malty with banana flavor. Light bitterness on the finish. Light to medium bodied.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 skaughty (625) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - SEP 4, 2004
On draft in a tulip glass
Nice reddish-brown appearance, with a little haze. Aroma was very fruity, with apples being dominant. The flavor was of caramel and (strangely) wheat. There is an earthy tone, but not likely due to hard water. The body is a little thin, and the finish is clean. A less-complex, less potent St. Bernardus (6 or 8) style.

RBSG 2004: Hazy orange brown color, citrus and earthy bits in the aroma, starts lightly sweet ends lightly bitter, medium bodied.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 3fourths (6954) - Straßgiech, Bavaria, GERMANY - AUG 15, 2004
Dark murky brown. Werid corny and spiced wood nose with moss and weeds in the flavor along with a dominant corn and wood flavor. Not anything to rave about.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sham (1846) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 20, 2004
Dark mahogany with a white head and spotty lacing. Hoppy, kind of spicy aromas. Malts and citrus. Earthy malt flavors and hops. Grapes and yeast. Spicy palate with a meduium body and a bitter finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - JUL 18, 2004
Pours a hazy brown iwth a small white head. Mildly sweet aroma, malty with a nice dose of roastyness. Taste was roasty and rich, with a hop backing to balance it out, a bit acidic, but still smooth and drinkable.
