3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ChainGangGuy (3834) - Canton, Georgia, USA - APR 2, 2010
Appearance: Arrived at our cocktail table a near black body with ruby-hued edges when back-lit by the table’s candle. Inch and a half of dense, khaki-colored foam for a head.
Smell: Modest, light aroma of 70% roastiness and 30% toastiness. Soft notes of unsweetened chocolate and char.
Taste: A roasty, toasty maltiness contributes tastes of bittersweet chocolate and mild coffee with a thin sliver of acrid smoke. Earthy, even lightly herbaceous hops along with the roasted malts provide for a medium-low level bitterness. Finishes expectedly dry and roasty.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Fairly light carbonation.
Drinkability: A fine, serviceable dry stout.

Pours a deep opaque coffee brown with a very fine-bubbled and persistent creamy tan head. Smoky aroma has a good undertone of mocha. Flavor is mainly fine roast coffee with an undertone of chocolate and a hint of burnt wood. Smooth yet edgy texture is quite tingly and dances all the way down.
