COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Warning: This beer is hoppy!
It has 10 different hops and over 3 pounds of hops per barrel! It has a big citrus aroma and is unfiltered, and therefore cloudy, to keep all the hop goodness in there. A deep garnet-red comes from the British crystal malt. My parents always wanted me to have a plan B in case the brewing career didn’t work out. So here is my Plan B, Mom and Dad. A religious experience. Pretty much the perfect beer IMHO. You don’t smell this beer, it smells you. Hop aroma leaps out of the glass into your nostrils, and the party commences. This beer is so good, it makes me want to play hopscotch. Fresh hop nirvana. Intensely, acutely, overtly, fragrantly, opulently hoppy. This is the Chronic! Thick, lush, abundant lacing on the glass. Big, bodacious, frothy white head. Beauteous opaque gold-n-garnet color. Flavor makes me want to get up and dance. So good, it can only be done adjective justice by the inspiration and creation of a new word - "ludicrious". You can put Plan B on my headstone, ’cause I wanna take this stuff with me to my grave. From there, on to Heaven and Plan A. Thank you, Crawford!

Cybercat (3503) - Georgia, USA - OCT 15, 2009
Pours a barely translucent dark honey brown with a fairly thick off-white head. Aroma is seriously hoppy, similar to sniffing an evergreen tree, promising a great IPA. Flavor is seriously hoppy, like drinking a liquid pine tree - the way a great IPA should be! Fizzy, rough texture fairly attacks the tongue. This is one of the best IPAs I have ever had.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2010 through the "world’s largest Randall" @ Westside... They put this through a tank loaded with hops... The result is a murky dark orange color with almost no head... Insanely fresh hop profile with huge pine and grass notes... Lighter nose than I would expect... Big body which is much smoother and crisper than the standard Plan B... Bitter finish, but again muted... A nice twist by pushing this through the giant Randall, but I prefer the standard version.

on tap at 5 Seasons North on 11/5/09... really solid IPA... pours a deep full bodied red with a nice white head. big pine hop aroma fills the nose. medium to full body... the hops really grab hold of your tongue throughout... a bit lighter up top and soft sides ... some underlying malt to keep things in line... thick bitter hop bomb finish.

Overall Impression: A very nice, hazy, dark orange/caramel colored IPA with a lot of hops on the nose and in the taste. This was a pretty nice beer for sure. Big hop brew. Pine and citrus. Sticky and nice.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2007 Rated as Hop Bomb express in late May on cask and dry-hopped: Pours a slightly hazy copper orange with an airy well-lacing white head. Aroma of big, fresh, grapefruity piny hops and soft caramel malt. Body starts fairly full and toasty malty sweet with a hint of toffee and big citrusy flavor hop balance toward a smooth, bittersweet finish.

On cask at the grand opening 1/19/07: Pours a transparent copper bronze with a large, frothy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet pale malt with good fresh grapefruity hoppy notes. Body starts with pleasant biscuity malty sweetness balanced with bittering hops toward a fresh, bittersweet finish. A good IPA.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, reddish-copper body with a small, creamy-looking, ivory-colored head. Smell: Aroma of dried grapefruit rinds with a bit of caramel in the background. Taste: Rich grapefruit flavor with a mild sweetness and a hint of caramel. Moderate bitterness with a nice earthiness. As one would expect, it finishes dry and bitterness. A hint of grass emerges as it warms. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A very pleasant, wonderfully drinkable IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2007 Bottle...O-Town Throwdown Part Tres... This beer rocks!... Beautiful, mostly clear, copper ale with a small, wispy, white head. Gobs of gooey caramel along with citrus and evergreen hops in the nose. The flavor leans toward the bitter side of balance, but not by much. Huge caramel/crystal malt backbone supports a nice, biting dose of PNW/Cascade hops. Full-bodied with (almost) a mineral oil mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Fuzzy fruit and dark fruit, bittersweet finish. Thanks to kp for sharing another great bottle of beer hand-crafted by the mastermind at the dearly-departed Dogwood Brewing Company!

cask conditioned at the brewing company. Cloudy orange color with thick head. Aroma is pure hops. Taste was definitely citrus hops but i thought I caught some oine/grass in there as well. Awesome beer.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2010 Rating #1 - 4/1/2010. Draft at 5 Seasons West, poured through "the world’s largest Randall" full of Willamette hops. Pours a cloudy, cloudy tannish brown with no head at all (cask-conditioned). Aroma is pleasant earthy hops with some grapefruit over bready malts. Flavor is fantastic blend of bready malts with soft touches of toast and chocolate and a strong balanced hop flavor that is herbal with notes of evergreen and a good bit of citrus. Balanced bitterness over chewy hops with full finish. Mouthfeel is full and chewy with soft carbonation. Overall, frikkin’ great IPA. 8,2,9,4,18 (4.1). Rating #2 - 7/29/2010. Plain ol’ Plan B in a sampler during a brewery tour (no "randall" to impart more fresh hop character). Very cloudy brownish pour. Aroma is quite hoppy with simcoe in particular. Flavor is hoppy and bittersweet with more "catty" simcoe flavor with a nicely balanced bready malt flavor and just the right note of residual sweetness. Very pleasant IPA. 8,2,8,4,16 (3.8)
