COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Poltergeist ESB has a light copper color, a toasted, biscuity malt profile and a prominent earthy, flowery hoppiness. A slight honey fruitiness sneeks its way in the background as well. It is brewed with exquisite traditional English ingredients – Maris Otter floor malted barley and Kent Golding hops. Relax and have a pint or two to keep the evil spirits away – and, of course, go to the light.

Appearance: hazy copper, big frothy beige head, lots of thick lace,
Aroma: dry caramel malt aroma with floral and earthy hops, touch of toasted,
Body: soft body,
Flavor: caramel and biscuit malt flavor, as it gets yeasty towards the bottom of the cask the bready character really comes out, touch of caramel sweetness is quickly balanced by a nice earthy character, light lasting bitterness,

Words: dry hopped

a lot more earthyness in both the aroma and flavor making it a bit drier, this one works better without the extra hops,

Appearance: hazy dark copper, creamy cream head, lots of webbed lace,
Aroma: dry dark caramel aroma with a nice bready character and lots of earthy hops,
Flavor: dry caramel malt flavor, nice toasted biscuit character, plenty of earthy hops for balance and flavor, touch of caramel sweetness starts to come out at the end, nice lasting bitter finish,
Overall: very similar to the cask but not the soft and creamy character that makes cask so special
-------- /> Date: 03/06/2008
Mode: cask
Words: randalized

Aroma: lots of fresh hop aroma on top of the sweet caramel malts,
Flavor: the randalized hops actually cover up some of the earthy flavor making for an overall sweeter caramel character,

Appearance: Hazy, copper body with a small, white head. Smell: Mild aroma - light maltiness, light hoppiness, and a slight spicy note. Taste: A pleasing maltiness brings out a mix of dry biscuits and a subtle caramel sweetness. Hint of fruit. Earthy, spicy hop flavor with a medium bitterness. Finishes clean. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Worth a round of applause, or at least a pint or two.
