COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
PMS Smoked Molasses Porter (Peated, Smoked, Molasses). A dark, but smooth and drinkable beer. We took a bit of malt and smoked it over a peat fire. We also added a good bit of molasses to the kettle. Very complex. We then aged it on oak and dark rum.

Name: pms rum
Date: 06/22/2008
Mode: Draft
Source: Brewpub

Appearance: opaque dark brown, huge beige head, splattered lace,
Aroma: big sweet chocolate and molasses aroma,
Body: creamy body,
Flavor: sweet chocolate flavor, nice raw molasses, rum pulls out more of the sweetness and a touch of fruityness, a light earthyness that may be from either the smoke or the oak or a well blended combination, chocolate dries out over time and picks up a dry dark bitter character, light bitterness in the finish,

Appearance: Dark brown, near black body topped off with two inches of creamy, beige-colored foam. Smell: Roasted, dark malts with notes of scorched grains, unsweetened chocolate, anise, and oak. Not picking up too terribly much in the way of rum, though. Taste: Dark malts with a full, ramped up roastiness. Restrained sweetness. Light underlying oakiness with minor hints of dark rum. Medium earthy bitterness. A few flecks of English toffee. A taste of licorice develops upon warmin. Drying, roasty finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Drinkability: Not nearly as rum-soaked as I had hoped, but, for what it’s worth, I say that about everything: books, OJ, cat, peanuts.
