Thanks to hopdog for bringing this to the Kennett after-party... 1 Liter bottle. 168/180. Appears a hazy gold with some steady streams of CO rising to the top of the white head. There are some floaters in there and I got my pour before it was half kicked. Smell is of poached pears, tropical fruit, caramel, citrus, vanilla, spices...seems like Westmalle yeast was employed here. Slight bit of oxidation that is buried in the background. Taste is of the mentioned aromas with citrus and caramel carrying the weight with the tropical fruits, and dried apricots pulling up the rear. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, yeasty, estery, and somewhat smooth with sweetness dissipating.

Draft at Prado location as Long Strange Tripel. Pours a somewhat hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is malt, apple, yeast, and pepper. Flavor is similar with a yeasty dryness going into the finish. Overall not bad tripel.

Notes from a couple months ago at the 5 Seasons brewpub. Tap. Was called Long Strange not Oblivion. Gold pour with white head. Yeast and tart aroma. Good light spices throughout. Covers alcohol in taste but warm going down.

On tap Labor Day weekend. Poured hazy yellowish gold with a decent off-white head, plenty of lace. Aroma of sugar, fruit, spice, yeast. Taste is similar, with a little more sweetness than other Trips. Mouth is pretty full and carbonation is appropriate. Overall, a nice Tripel.

Bottle sample at Noogfest High 5. Poured amber with a thin white head. Fruity aroma with a backing of caramel and a hint of smoke(?). The flavor found more fruits with hints of spice, malts, and yeast. Medium body and sweet.

Bottle shared at Noogfest High 5. Poured clear yellow amber color with an average fizzy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy yeasty and tart fruity aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy yeasty flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol bite. This is a good drinkable beer.

Draft sample at brewpub. Poured clear yellow-golden color with an average fizzy white head that lasted with good lacing. Complex citrus, bubblegum and yeasty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol bite as it warmed. This is a refreshing good beer.

Butters (3013) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 10, 2009
Sampled at the Noogfest High 5. Pours a semi-hazy copper with near white ring of head. Vanilla and fruity aroma. Syrupy sweet, and I found it to be a little lame. I do appreciate that it was brewed for the celebration of the alcohol limit lifting, but it wasn’t a stellar beer by any stretch.

Cybercat (1892) - Georgia, USA - JUL 8, 2009
Comes out of the tap a hazy, nearly opaque golden amber. Aroma is yeasty and fruity, the latter being mainly apples. Flavor is crisp, malty, fruity, and just a little bit sweet with a hint of butterscotch. Texture is smooth, fizzy and gently tingly. Another winner from the Five.
Earlier Rating: 9/28/2008 Total Score: 4.2
Comes out of the tap a beautiful opaque golden-honey with a thick, off-white head - very inviting. Malty aroma has a buttery tone and a hint of hops. Flavor is rich, lively and malty with hints of butterscotch and hops and just a whisper of sweetness. Texture is fairly smooth, and it goes down the pipes with a lively and jazzy feel.
