Aroma: spicy aroma, touch of caramel sweetness brings out a chocolate character, nice spicy phenols, light earthyness
Flavor: rich chocolate flavor, nice balancing spicyness, just a hint of sweetness, light earthyness followed by a long bitter finish

Dark garnet red with a fizzy white head. Sweet molasses and alcohol aroma and a tangy citrus roasted grain molasses taste with some nutty notes.

On tap at the Westside location. Dark brown pour, khaki colored head. Aroma of olive oil, coffee and chocolate. Flavor presents some chicory coffee notes, a bit of chocolate. and some olive oil - very unique. Mouthfeel is thick enough - but fades just a tad in the back end.

On tap at the brewpub. Nice nuttiness typical of your standard brown. Gritty, dirty texture. I believe it was mentioned that they threw in some wild yeast here to give this a bit of a funkiness on the end. I’m not sure if that works so well here. You can taste a bit of it but I can see why you would think it is a misfire for the beer as opposed to an intended consequence of the treatment. I applaud the effort to experiment but think it needs a bit of fine tuning.

Something not good going on here. Nose is fine, a little nutty. Color is cloudy brown from no filtration i suppose. But the flavor is bad. Acidic. Twinges of sour and bandaids. very phenolic. very low underlying ’brown’ style, but something has happened to this. After the infection passes, the finish is surprisingly toasty. Couldn’t finish the sample pour.

This is a pretty standard brown ale from my perspective. Nice nuttiness, low hopping. Seems to be relatively low alcohol.
