3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ChainGangGuy (4116) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAR 9, 2011
Appearance: Served a hazed, dark brown body with a scant, light tan-hued head, though the beer was filled to near overflowing.
Smell: A blend of coffee-ish roastiness and heavily toasted bread, with little mingling notes of chocolate and nuttiness in between.
Taste: Predominately malty; its toasty, roasty, and hinting of nuts, cocoa, and very mild coffee with a soft sweetness akin to a tittle of brown sugar. Earthy, lightly herbaceous hops with a fine amount of bitterness. Remains mainly malty as you near the finish, though it does manage to dry out at the end.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-light carbonation.
Drinkability: A straight-up enjoyable brown ale that’s rather versatile. Pair it with food, don’t pair it with food, whatever you want, really.
