3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ChainGangGuy (3834) - Canton, Georgia, USA - DEC 25, 2011
Appearance: Opaque, mahogany-hued body with a very thin, near white head.
Smell: Caramel coated fruits of chewy, faintly tart berries with lightly toasty, bready malts, a small, small nibble of banana, a hint of spice, and a leisurely swig of liquor.
Taste: A spring of sweet caramel with modestly bready malts and a thick, crusty vein of cherry and raspberry fruitiness. Light pinches of nutmeg, ground cloves, and white pepper for some pressing spice accents. A little banana on the back end as the preceding fruits settle. Warming alcohol presence on the fruity, spicy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Not heavy on the tongue, but there’s a bit of stickiness present. Medium carbonation.
Overall: It’s a decent, fitting dubbel.
