Easily a session beer (at least by flavor as I don’t see ABV posted). I tend to go to an IPA or Live Oak Pils, but this one might just slip into the ilocal mix for me. Almost has a smoked flavor, fresh hops, very earthy. 512 did such a great job on this... just like their others. I must say I continue to be impressed. Tastes like a mature recipe... The German alts that make it to the U.S. are not like the ones served in Dusseldorf, but this one does compare to the real ones. It’s not as bitter as the alt from Uerige, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s very smooth and clean amd has a great flavor profile. Try some if you are in Austin. mmmbeer (746), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2009 On tap at Draught House (4-2-09)- poured transparent darkened amber with shades of tan, small white head tried it’s best to lace along the sides of the glass. Aroma of malt with hops in the background. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt is interlaced with a tad of caramel which is always nice, good mouth feel, hops on the backend of the tasting, finish is complete. Nicely done- good brew to start the evening with. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2009 Pours a dark amber, to light brownish color with a smallish offwhite head. Smell is grassy hops and some earthy malt and yeast. The beer had a mild toasty caramel malt flavor and a nice bright, grassy and bitter hoppy profile, moreso than expected from an Alt. Flavorful hops shine in this one above the malt, and couples with a light, yet noticeable yeastiness that gives it a lager like taste. Medium body and normal carbonation. I enjoyed this one.
