4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 TizzleJizzle (375) - Garland, Texas, USA - JAN 7, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 20, 2012 Draught at ginger man pub in fort worth. The generous amout of alcohol is hidden exceptionally well. Poured a dark brown with a tan head with surperb head retention. Taste, wow!! Caramel malts that transforms into a sweet citrusy fruity flavor then finishes with a slight hop finish. Overall the complexity of this ale is 1 of the best I’ve ever experienced. This brew receives the TizzleJizzle stamp of approval! Go drink this now!

On tap at The Gingerman Plano. This beer pours a deep brown almost black with a thin tan head. The aromas are coffee, chocolate, raisin. The mouthfeel is slightly sticky and bittersweet with a medium to heavy body. I’m not sure why it rates so low as I thought thus was quite a food beer! Cheers!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ansermadide (1196) - Kyle, Texas, USA - NOV 7, 2009
UPDATED: NOV 8, 2009 On tap at the Austin Saucer. This interesting brown ale has a deep dark, almost black color with a classy, slight red tint to it and a fine white head. Its aroma is pretty roasted. Once it hits your mouth you experience a very silky, smooth mouthfeel with something exciting behind it. Its flavor is lightly roasted and pleasant. Its color, as you drink, actually gets more orange. Lightly bitter finish. Overall, I felt this beer provided an exceptional experience and was a treat to drink. I’d suggest to anyone.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DewBrewer (295) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 4, 2009
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2009 On tap at Opal Divine’s Penn Field. Not much carbonation but medium to dark brown color. The aroma is malty and fruity. Flavor is sweet and malty with a good deal of fruit character. There is a slight bitterness to balance the other flavors. Nicely balanced. The 7.6% is somewhat hidden. Great beer. Also had the randallized version through centennial hops at Draught House....pretty tasty. (Re-rate from pint at Dig Pub in Cedar Park---more carbonation now, nice big brown ale)
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 valpoaj (531) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Tap pour in Austin - touted as a ’double brown’ - came through as an opaque mahogany with a moderate sized off-white head that lasted for a while. Aroma is pleasant - sweet and malty with some toasted malts, caramel, hint of dark fruit and dark chocolate. Flavor is also pretty good with sweet malt, brown sugar, roasted nuts, hint of caramel. Palate seems appropriate, although I’m not quite sure of the style (doesn’t seem to be a belgian as RB is showing). Would definitely have this one again - was impressed by this brewery when in the region.

On tap at the Gingerman. Pours with a deep brown to near black body tan head. Aroma of raisins, brown sugar, candi sugar, plums, chocolate and dark fruits. Flavors of mocha, dirt, earth, dark fruits and dried fruits. Some brown sugar and persimmons as well. Medium carbonation. A much better beer than the ratings show. Much better...
