3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 fiveacestx (363) - Texas, USA - JUN 17, 2013
On tap at Flying Saucer - pale orange with a small head and lacing. Hoppy grapefruit, medium thick mouthfeel and a dry finish. Yeah yeah, not exactly rating of the year but it’s a basic straightforward DIPA.

Good one and I’ve been waiting for this to come back. Nice citrus and grapefruit aroma but not as strong as their IPA. Nice copper color. Weighty palate with good crisp carbonation that compliments the high bitterness. This is their IPA with more power but I believe more balance. High bitterness from multiple fronts but with a good malt backbone.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ttoadee (384) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 9, 2013
Slightly hazy orange, thick compact white head. Heavy hop nose. Bitter. Middle is a full bodied malt base with platters of piney hops. Finish is wood and bitter.

Hazy orange pour with white head, fine bubbles and good lacing. . Nose is floral, perfumy, vegetables. Flavor is grassy, vegetables, meat, orange, something off about this. Bitter finish and medium carb. Not my favorite 512 offering, something seemed not right about this batch.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 brystmar (517) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 2, 2013
On tap. Creamy, plenty of malt. Hints of pine and earth without succumbing to the West Coast itch. Freshly hopped; more earthy than citrusy. Body approaches creamy HF perfection. Good stuff.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 travita (3114) - Frisco, Texas, USA - NOV 21, 2012
Tap at Strangeways. The look is orange colored, lacing decent off white head, and clear. The smell is orange, pine, hops, fruit, nice hoppiness, and good. The taste is a decent bitterness, hops, oranges, grapefruit, and ok.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Robbievegas (230) - Las vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 4, 2012
Tried this on tap at The Hay Merchant in Houston, TX. This double IPA has a nice hoppy aroma with citrus and fresh cut grass notes and it dances on your taste buds with a bitter finish.

On draft at Little Woodrow’s. Pours clear orange. It’s a lot like their delicious 512 IPA but pumped up a bit. Nice grapefruit citrus and melon flavors with decent lasting bitterness. Still pretty light for a IIPA, but easy to session, which is not often said about this category. Another winner from 512!

The is one of the most flavor neutral IIPAs I’ve ever had. It’s good, but there isn’t a whole lot going on. Pours hazy copper with a foamy eggshell colored head and thick lacing. Aroma of caramel and sweet biscuit malts and citrus. Taste is malty and sweet with a mild bitterness. Fairly full bodied and sticky with smooth carbonation. Definitely a decent beer, but this is about as lacking in complexity as I can imagine from a beer of this style.

Tap at Common Table. Cloudy dark orange pour with an off white head. Really nice pine and grapefruit aroma. Taste is pine, grapefruit, and toffee. Very good.
