Inky black with a thin khaki head. The nose is very roasty with a touch of licorice with dark cocoa. The taste is really nice and semi-sweet, roasty, cocoa flavors, a touch of smoke, and a bit more sweet black maltiness and roast.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle #723 poured deep black with finger of creamy tan head that lingered. Mild lacing and carnination. Strong cocoa and coffee nose with tastes of coffee, cocoa, caramel and vanilla and roasted malts. Solid mouthfeel with a slightly boozy bittersweet back end. Going to get another early bottle and age.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep black from their ceramic bottle. Deep brown head that sticks from quite a while.Aroma is roasty, but slightly sweet. A bit of dates perhaps. Taste is big malt roast with a very very slight smoke and bitterness. Great stout, I would love to see them put this in bourbon barrels. This was much more impressive than their double pecan imo.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location: Draft at Hay Merchant, 12/3/13
Aroma: The nose is roasted malts, some coffee, chocolate, plenty of booze, and licorice
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown-black color with a foamy light brown head
Flavor: The taste is similar to the nose, malt forward, roasted and a little boozy
Palate: The body leans full, with a pretty solid mouthfeel, and a lighter dryness on the finish
I thought this was a decent, but not amazing example of the style. Good effort for sure. In general, I enjoy beers from (512), this is no exception.
