The (512) India Pale Ale is a big, aggressively dry hopped American IPA with smooth bitterness (~65 IBU) balanced by medium maltiness. 100% US malted grains, loads of hops, and great Austin water create an ale with apricot and vanilla aromatics that lure you in for more.

On tap @ Hopdoddy, SO-CO...Delicious! Lighter than some of the other local IPAs offered...The intent was not to over-load prior to the burger!! Back to beer: P: Served on tap in a chilled-goblet... A: Golden-orange, filtered, leaving a nice lacing 1.5" head...GREAT! T: Bright, clean nice hops up front...good tasty citrus (grapefruit), along with some other nice lingering pine notes.... P: Medium carbonation, medium bodied, great for the style :~) O: One of the best austin (or if you prefer TX beers)... I’ve had since moving to TX in April ’13....competes with the best of the NW IPA for sure...go ahead try one, it won’t disappoint...Bucket head ipa (thirsty planet brewing...which to be honest is getting a ’BAD-RAP’ at a rating of 89/74...they should at least be in the low ’90s...)...Also, lost coast ipa (Real Ales/in Blanco TX) does a VERY FINE ipa!!....Chasin’ cheers :~)

Draught, small creamy head, quite clear rusty orange color, toasty grainy aroma with yherbs and yeast, biscuity malty flavor with a strong herbal bitterness and a hint of citrus. Pleasant drinkable IPA, just a little bit heavy.

On tap at Fado, Austin. Clear dark copper with a small white head that lingers and leaves lots of lace. Strong pine nose with caramel and honey. Light sweet toffee supporting a medium pine bitterness with some citrus. Medium mouth with average carbonation.

Rated based on notes taken 22 Sep 2012 -- zero notes, just a rating. 5.0 on untapped means business. But I have to adjust for inflation.

Tap at Petrol Station. Murky lighter orange pour with a white clingy head. Oddly mild aroma given the big fruity hop taste in this. Quite good - wish the aromatics were stronger.

Tap at Little Woodrow?s in Austin. Commonshawn present. Appearance is standard IPA. Minimal head. Aroma of hops and citrus but muted. Taste is pretty straightforward. Hops are the star with some citrus notes. Good bite. Smooth and easy to drink. Forgettable but not bad.
