COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
That’s right, the first seasonal offering (of many to come ) from (512) Brewing Company was brewed this week. It’s a Robust Porter brewed with Pecans. Look for this beer to be released sometime in late October - We can’t release it until there’s at least a hint of cool weather in the air! This nearly black Porter is made with US 2-row and Crystal malts along with Baird’s Chocolate and Black malts. Mild smooth hop bitterness is contrasted with sharp black malt bitterness. It has a full body and malty sweetness balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!

Growler from slimchill! Pours black with a small grayish brown head. Aroma is full of dark grains with just a slight hint of pecan on the nose. Flavor again is full of dark grain and a bit of bitter chocolate with a slight bit of pecan in the aftertaste.

I like the sound of a pecan beer unfortunately I didn’t detect any pecan or nutty flavors at all. Was still a good porter. Maybe a tad on the dry side. Looked great. Don’t know if I’ll order another though; was sort of bored w/ it about 3/4 through the pint. There’s more interesting stuff to choose from on the wall.

Roasted malts, black patent malts, somewhat rich nutty notes, touch of chocolate, a little sweetness. Pours nearly black with a creamy whispy tan head and spots of lace. Nutty, roasty, earthy, light underlying sweetness. Somewhat dry and a little black malty notes left on palate. Solidly drinkable and rather complex. Very enjoyable.

Growler shared by suzyg. Pours a rich black with thick coffee tan head. Coffee, slight sweet cocoa, roasty malt, vanilla and a nice light nuttiness. Body feel is nice and light yet full with depth and a creamy carb feel. Balanced with roast, coffee, slight sweetness and a identifiable touch of nuttiness. Flavorful yet sessionable, nice stuff.

Draft from draught house. Malty chocolatey and some coffee predominate. THe pecans really were quite tastable. Good stuff.

Pours dark brown/black into the glass with a brown head. Aroma is chocolate and nuttiness. Flavor is chocolate and coffee followed by extreme astringency which I can only guess comes from the pecan. Light to medium body, would not drink often.

(Growler) Pours lack with tan bubbles. Nose is nutty, roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, nuts, with an oily, creamy body. This is very drinkable.

Tried on tap at the Fort Worth Flying Saucer. Pours black with basically no head. Aroma is roasted malt along with a little bit of coffee and some pecan nuttyness. Flavor is similar to the aroma with the pecans being the star of the show. Medium mouthfeel with minimal carbonation. Very drinkable and one of the best beers I have tried from Texas.
