Pours black with a medium tan head. Roasted Malt aroma. Did not detect any pecans in the aroma or taste. The alcohol is on the high end for a porter. Dry clean taste on the palate. I was very impressed with the craftmanship in this brew. Finally, an excellent porter made in Texas.

on tap at Anvil in Houston. Pours black with a light-brown head. Nose is of roast malt, nut and coffee. Taste is roast malt, nut and coffee. Very tasty! Mouthfeel is medium with some bitterness and chalkiness. Very good porter.

Black pour, nice head and lace. Smokey coffee aroma. Smoky roasted malts dominate, with a chocolatey, coffe flavor. Nice low carb, thick mouth, with a hint of caramel. Tasty brew.

Keg at the Ginger Man, Austin. Pours deep black with red hints, nose has roast coffee, toffee, pecan, apple. The body is rich and full, with black treacle and roast malt, then nuts coming through in the mid body. Sweetness and pecans then come through as the chill eases off. The aftertaste is very roast with bitter and nutty notes, faint hints of strawberries. Superb.

Cask at Flying Saucer in Addison TX. Pours a dark brown black with a brown head and webby lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malts and sweet chocolate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation and a chewy mouthfeel. Flavor of coffee, dark chocolate, and pecan shells countered by a balancing spicy bitterness. There was a slight tang or tartness (acetaldehyde?) on the finish that I did not care for, but it went away as it approached room temp

A: The pour is a dark, dark brown color with a fingerís worth (or so) of tan head.
S: Plenty of roast comes through right away with a bit of bananas, which I was not expecting. The nuttiness is there and provides some interesting sweetness, along with a chocolate note.
T: A very nice roasty base for this beer. The flavor profile is sort of all over the place: sweet bananas, chocolate, pecans, coffee, and perhaps some molasses too.
M: The body is medium with a somewhat low carbonation, but it doesnít detract from the beer at all.
D: Iím very glad to have finally tried this one, and to find that it was as good as I expected. A very enjoyable beer that I would have again.

Decent porter.... If pecan wasnít listed, you would never know. Toasty aroma and flavor.

Cask at Ginger Man Austin. Brown with big tan head and lace. Pecan and cocoa nib aromas. Flavor is roast malts, cocoa, coffee, and nuttiness. Medium body with watery texture. A decent porter but the flavors fade fast into a residual sweet and bitter finish.
