Wow, a porter. Canít really screw up a porter can you? Well, they didnít. It is simple enough and not screwed up, but I am looking forward to trying a real beer from these guys. Thankfully, the pecan flavors were restrained, ícause me donít likey pecans.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Ginger Man in Austin, TX. Nearly black in appearance with minimal head. Definite pecan on the nose (surprise!). Good interplay between roasted malt, coffee, and pecan flavors on the palate. Just a touch of sweetness. Really well made, this was the first beer I tried from (512) Brewing and it was a great introduction to their offerings.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear, nearly opaque black pour which reveals itself to be dark red on examination in bright light. Scant, tan head leaves a coarse lace. Coffee nose, medium body, balance nutty bittersweet middle and finish. I would drink it again, but only a pint at a time - a niche porter.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Flying Saucer. Pours a very dark brown with a medium creamy light tan head that lasts awhile leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a roasted chocolate and nuts. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet roasted coffee flavor and nice lingering finish. Hides the alcohol well making it very drinkable. A very good Porter from (512).

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Fort Worth Gingerman. Dark pour with a brown head. Aroma is coffee, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste is about the same with the chocolate a little more upfront. Pecan finally pulls through to the forefront in the finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the Draught House. Pours a dark brown body with tan highlights. No head as it was given to me. Aroma is light fresh coffee, some caramel sweetness and roasty. Flavor follows the aromas and adds some bitter-sweet chocolate, a VERY faint nutty-ness and a nice mild bitter finish. Nicely balanced porter thatís easy to drink. However, I didnít get a whole lot of pecans for what itís worth.

2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Reviewed 1/30/2010 (Draft at Flying Saucer, Houston, TX):
Pours a very dark reddish brown color body, small tan color head. Roasted aroma, some coffee, some sweetness too. Slight pecanness. Sweet taste, roasted. Very sweet, maybe pecan, maybe. Very roasty flavor, very watery. Too much alcohol or something. Ashy. Not a fan. Dark fruit, too much.
