COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
That’s right, the first seasonal offering (of many to come ) from (512) Brewing Company was brewed this week. It’s a Robust Porter brewed with Pecans. Look for this beer to be released sometime in late October - We can’t release it until there’s at least a hint of cool weather in the air! This nearly black Porter is made with US 2-row and Crystal malts along with Baird’s Chocolate and Black malts. Mild smooth hop bitterness is contrasted with sharp black malt bitterness. It has a full body and malty sweetness balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!

Draught at ginger man. Really nice oily black with a tan head. Roasty malt and chocolate aroma. Some burnt grain taste but maybe that’s the pecan, sweet chocolate and smooth mouthfeel. I really enjoy this.

Draught at Opal Divine’s Freehouse, Austin, Oct. 18. Pours black with a small semi-lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, some coffee & chocolate and oddly enough, peas. Flavour follows the aroma but there’s something about it that doesn’t quite work for me, the pecans perhaps? It’s also a bit watery. Average bodied. Just good.

From notes, 5/4/11: Had this one on tap at The Draft Pick in Austin. Aroma: Coffee, roasted malts, slight chocolaty sweetness, and of course, pecans. Appearance: Poured a deep dark brown into a room temp pint glass with minimal head. Tan head quickly dissipated and left slight spiderweb lacing. Taste: Loved the nutty roastiness and coffee flavors true to the style. Palate: Thick for a porter, low carbonation, and damn smooth. Overall: Definitely one of my favorite porters to date.

Tried this on tap at The Flying Saucer in Houston, TX. Big tasty porter balanced with malty sweetness and bitter hops. Caramel, cocoa and nut notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown pour small dense brown head with good lacing. Roasted malt light chocolates a hint of lactose light nuttiness but I wouldn’t have said pecan. Good palate nicely coated but a touch to thin for what I wanted. Great flavor a dry nuttiness finishes pexans in the aftertaste a good dark roast malt dominates smooth and mellow swallow some light cocoa and a touch of alcohol. Very good beer.

Darn good beer. Aroma is nutty dark malts, roast, coffee and a slight hint of buttery pecan, maybe even candy sugar in a slight hint? Appearance is black with a nice tan head. taste is bitter and nutty with not much sweetness but just enough. Palate is porter bit thinner than a stout. overall this is a great fall beer.

Keg. Pitch black. Coffee, dark chocolate in the aroma. Taste: Roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and yes, pecans. ABV very well hidden.
