COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Thatís right, the first seasonal offering (of many to come ) from (512) Brewing Company was brewed this week. Itís a Robust Porter brewed with Pecans. Look for this beer to be released sometime in late October - We canít release it until thereís at least a hint of cool weather in the air! This nearly black Porter is made with US 2-row and Crystal malts along with Bairdís Chocolate and Black malts. Mild smooth hop bitterness is contrasted with sharp black malt bitterness. It has a full body and malty sweetness balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!

Not bad at all -- pecans are an interesting addition. I almost wish it was a little sweeter. This is a medium-bodied porter, with some chocolate and some dark roast, but the flavors are really pretty mild. They should come out with a variation called "Pecan Pie Porter." Then weíd really be talking!

Iím not sure what all the hype about this brew is. It is passable, if that. It has a chocolaty type of taste. Reminded me of a Guiness, even though this is a porter. It has a smooth wash but itís taste does not overwhelm. Feels too familiar. And I feel a Texas beer now more than ever needs to excel! This one certainly does not.

Cask at the Ginger Man, Houston, 21/05/13. Mid black with a medium tan head that retains well. Nose is roast malt, vanilla, syrup, sugars, chocolate. Taste comprises pecan, roast malt, lactose, light chocolate notes. Medium bodied but a little on the thin/watery side - certainly for a 6.8% ABV beer, moderate carbonation, soft roast in the finish. Drinkable porter, let down by lack of body and no great depth of flavour, not one Iíd look to in the future.

Poured at Stubbs in Austin. Dark brown pour with creamy mocha head. Roasty and nutty aroma, but not much going on. Slight roast up front with a lingering nuttiness. Bunch of chocolate coming through as I go. Not sure if this is on nitro or what, but very low carbonation and maybe slightly watered down (or maybe I've been having too many stouts lately). Solid beer.

On cask. Deep brown body, stubborn brown head & lace adorn my glass. Beautiful bouquet of toasted grain, roasted pecans, butterscotch, toffee.

Taste leaves a bit to be desired, as the brunt of its nutty flavor fades to finish watery. What's here is good: a little refinement could turn this into a serious contender within the style. Shame the state makes it ILLEGAL for these guys to bottle & distribute this (and all of their other) beer(s). Fuck the TABC.

poured deep brown from tap...aroma is nicely done, chocolate, coffee, and a touch of hops. Great end to a tough day

thick and chocolaty Stout, big caramel head. Like someone put caramel and hops in guiness.

(draft @ The Esquire - San Antonio, TX) Dark brown pour with a chocolatey head. Nice and roasted chocolate aroma with some mild nutty hints, which is what I expected. Flavor is roasted chocolate at the start with a very light and dry nutty pecan finish. Very enjoyable.

Draught. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate off-white head. Nose and taste are both quite roasty. Feels very smooth and makes for an easy drink.

Draught at flying saucer Addison. Poured a dark brown almost black color with a thin khaki head. Smoky, roasty, toasty, nutty, malty goodness!! High carb, medium body.
