COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Thatís right, the first seasonal offering (of many to come ) from (512) Brewing Company was brewed this week. Itís a Robust Porter brewed with Pecans. Look for this beer to be released sometime in late October - We canít release it until thereís at least a hint of cool weather in the air! This nearly black Porter is made with US 2-row and Crystal malts along with Bairdís Chocolate and Black malts. Mild smooth hop bitterness is contrasted with sharp black malt bitterness. It has a full body and malty sweetness balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!

Draught at flying saucer Addison. Poured a dark brown almost black color with a thin khaki head. Smoky, roasty, toasty, nutty, malty goodness!! High carb, medium body.

Iíve seen great reviews on this beer, however I was not overly impressed. The color and lack of head had me thinking that this beer would be full and flavorful. In reality I found this beer to be light in body, long on finish but disappointing on the palate. It was reminiscent of old watered down coffee. I didnít get much Pecan but was left with a very dry, tannic feeling. Not a bad beer but also not overly impressive.

Draft 4/14/10 (Opal Divineís-Freehouse)-Pours black with no head. Aroma of burnt malt and coffee. Taste of coffee, chocolate, ad burnt malt. This medium to full bodied brew was darn tasty but just lacked carbonation.

Poured into a small glass at Ginger Man in Austin. First smells were of Pecan and maybe some chocolate. Taste was very malty but had enough bitterness for my liking. Very dark brown with a creamy head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

poured deep brown from tap...aroma is nicely done...full of sweet malt, roasted nuts, vanilla...yummy! flavor is also seriously good...loads of sweet, lightly toasted malts, pecan flavor, light chocolate, vanilla, hint of smokiness. palate was nearly perfect for the style...easy drinking, moderately thick, smooth. was interested to try this one and it firmly exceeded expectations! canít wait to try this again.

Nice balance and uniqueness. Great roasted malt and nut flavor. Good dark coffee color with decent head. Palate is somewhat thinner than anticipated and works better as it warms up. Similar tastes with a strong roasted presence and pecans. Some sweetness. Little alcohol presence.

Dark brown pour. Light brown head. Very roasty and nutty aroma. Flavor is harsh almost erstery followed by a more mellow malty finish. Pecans are light if noticeable at all. ---Rated via iPhone

Tap at Opalís, 2010. Clear, dark brown pour with red highlights. Scant tan head leaving minimal lace. Coffee nose, medium body, nutty and roasty middle and finish. Fun a pint at a sitting.
