Roasted malts, pecan aroma! This is a delicious beer! If you start with this beer, finish with this beer. The taste will spoil all other flavors and you’ll just end up ordering another anyway!

Cask conditioned. Nose is vanilla and cocoa notes. Big full mouthfeel with terrific caramel sweetness. The pecan definitely comes through in the flavor, especially on the midpallete and aftertaste, with just a hint of nutty bitterness with terrific balance. Need to find a few bottles to take back to Colorado.

Black as night falls, nice mocha head. The nut on the nose come through a tad. You also get roasty, chocolate on the nose.
The mouthfeel is that of silky with some medium body. Smoke comes in just slighty then the roasted chocolate and on the finish the pecan makes a cameo.

I am very partial to Porters. And this Porter lands near the Meantime Porter as far as my favorites. In my top 2, most certainly. This Porter is good in a much different way. It has a great chocolate/coffee aroma to it, and has a more malty taste to it. The first batch of it I tried wasn’t nearly as dry as the last batch I tasted, but in both cases, the beer didn’t disappoint. When you read Pecan, don’t expect sweet. It is still very much a Porter, but with a little bit of added malt to it. Which some will like, and other won’t.

Keg at the Ginger Man, Austin. Pours deep black with red hints, nose has roast coffee, toffee, pecan, apple. The body is rich and full, with black treacle and roast malt, then nuts coming through in the mid body. Sweetness and pecans then come through as the chill eases off. The aftertaste is very roast with bitter and nutty notes, faint hints of strawberries. Superb.

Delicious beer. Extremely yummy. I am not sure when or how they add the pecans but it does have the flavor, and it melds quite well into a robust porter. Great job guys.

Draft at Fort Worth Flying Saucer. First 512 beer and wow was this nice. Big, bold porter that honestly seemed barrel aged: notes of coffee, vanilla and booze. Just a hint of the pecan nuttiness. Really nice surprise.

Aroma: Smells wonderfully malty with a hint of cream sweet
Appearance: Very dark (35+SRM), small sand colored lace ring
Taste: Very nice malty sweetness, milk chocolates mingling nicely with dark stone fruits
Palate: It nicely coats the mouth and is deceptively smooth
Overall: Very enjoyable, constantly on the lookout for more

Beautiful Brown chunky head. Deep black color. Slight pecan aroma beneath the roasty chocolatey coffee smell. Very silky creamy mouthfeel.
Very quaffable

Served in shaker at Rover’s on 5.28.09- non transparent black in color, nice creamy lightly darkened tan head. Aroma of a roasted malt, coffee, brown sugar, and a note of pecans. Hits the mouth with a nice wide body, malt is there from the first sip- which is extermely pleasant, dark chocolate notes intertwined with sweetness and pecans everywhere, finish is sticky and hangs around like bad company- which is good. Yet another solid brew from this new brewery which hasn’t had a slow start.
