This is a bigger, bolder version of our mainstay Pecan Porter, with a richer finish. Two months on recently emptied Jack Daniels select barrels imparted a wonderful vanilla character from the oak and a pleasant amount of whiskey nose and flavor.

Bomber bottle. Poured great with creamy head that did not persist long. Black in color no apparent haze. Aroma mostly of chocolate flavor was also mostly chocolate with a hint of vanilla bourbon. As it warmed more of a coffee flavor was aroused. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a inky black with a little beige foam. Nose was very reminiscent of pecan pie. Taste is brown sugar, nuts, bourbon, vanilla and a little alcohol bite. Very sweet , definitely a sipper otherwise it could be cloying. As a fan of regular 512 Pecan Porter I can say i definitely was not let down.

Nose is vanilla, nuts, whiskey, rather pleasant. Flavors follow but the lingering whiskey flavor is a bit tacky and overwhelming. It’s still a good beer on the aroma alone but I wish the whiskey was less aggressive.

Sampled at the GABF 2015. Poured a dark brown color with tan head. Nose is whiskey and chocolate malts. Medium in body. So sign of the alcohol. The flavor is good balance of whiskey barrel and chocolate plus pecans. The whiskey adds a lot to the finish. Really good

2014 bottle. Brown with tan head. Nutty chocolate nose, little bit of barrel and whiskey. Taste gives nuts, light coffee, medium dark chocolate, mellow fruity whiskey notes. Medium mouthfeel, a little thin perhaps. Nuts and light barrel linger. Pretty decent, but I prefer the standard pecan porter if I'm honest (especially given the price point here)

Bottle opened up at the 2014 Ottawa End of Year Gathering. Dark brown with huge frothy mocha head that disappears fairly quickly. High carbonation, mild+ body that goes down easily, sweet, dry, vanilla, nutty (can’t say pecan but we did have a debate about pecan vs. walnut although they were subtle), oak, slightly bitter, some chocolate, light and fresh. Tasty.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a nice light brown foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt notes with black chocolates with subtle pecan notes. Whiskey notes are also easily noticeable and provided a nice smooth finish to the beer. Body is a bit thinner then I was expected with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very nice beer but can’t say that pecan are as apparent as I would have expected.

caramel, coffee, leather, leaves, earthy, vanilla, smoke, black, medium sweetness, full body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish, An exceptional, damn hard to find, example of a whiskey barrel aged ale. Superb with a chocolate silk cake or even a chocolate mousse.

Really liked this. Pours dark, pitch black as a big gusher. Nose is big molasses. Flavours are very boozy, lots of sweet syrup, some nutella. Tastes big sweet, medium bitter. Oily body, light carbonation. Big beer, well done.
