Bottle @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. Pour is deep brown, almost black with a big tan head. Huge roasty, nutty, vanilla aroma - other lighter notes of oak, cocoa, coffee, and dark fruits. Taste is again heavy roast - though not overly charred - wood, oak, dark fruits, espresso, and chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Nice stuff!

Bottle @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. Pours a dark brown appearance with a brown head. Fairly sweet chocolate/caramel malty, a bit nutty, whiskey, toffee aroma. Fairly well balanced, caramel, roasty, dark chocolate malty with a bit of burn on the finish. Pretty fun beer.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured dark reddish brown color with an average frothy tan head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate malt, whiskey and nuts aroma. Medium to full body and smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy whiskey sweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This beer exceeded my expectations.

I have had this a number of times and it remains consistent. This bottle was at least a year old and the flavors had blended well. Strong whiskey aroma with some vanilla and malt. Dark brown with a substantial tan head given the age. Smooth palate with some carbonation. More upfront whiskey flavor with a tinge of pecan and roasted malts. This could pass as a stout in my opinion. Definitely worth a try if you can find it.

750 ml bottle to snifter (thanks alexsdad06). Looks good; a dull brownish-black with ample beige head. Smells and tastes good; dark malt and whiskey with a pleasant pecan presence. Average on the palate. Good beer.

Draft. Aroma is boozy, earthy pecan. Appearance is black with a tan head. Taste is dark and earthy. Some dark fruit on there. Palate is good. Overall, a good beer. I think the earth i was tasting was the pecan. God stuff.

Bottle (750 ml). Thanks to Daniel for this one! Black with a medium diminishing brown head and some lacing. Aroma is of whiskey (not overpowering), vanilla, nuts, chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is about the same with a pleasant subtle acidic presence. Medium body. Low to medium carbonation. Superb balance. Good use of the whiskey barrels. One of the best barrel-aged porter I’ve tried so far. Nice beer!

Infected bottle, nuttiness, acid, some cocoa. Wonder what it would taste like non-infected.
