3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at First Sunday. Whiskey flavors of wood and a bit of oak. Pecan is light here but present and definitely not as sweet as I was anticipating something called "pecan pie" to be. Not a bad thing at all in fact I prefer a more subtle nuttiness to an overly sweet dessert bomb. Nice blend of flavors come together here to make a decent beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Jackl, 12/05/14.
Black with a moderate tan head that retains well.
Nose is roast malt, bourbon, dark toffee fudge, chocolate, light charr.
Taste comprises dark roast, spice, dark fruit pangs, cocoa powder, subtle BA effect.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a shallow bourbon rinse.
Decent enough BA imperial, subtley done, not a huge level of complexity but a nice enough sipper.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Serving: 22 oz. bottle. It pours almost black with a small, off white head. Definitely some nuttiness in the nose with a hint of wood and booze. The flavor carries forward the same with a mix of vanilla, wood, and nuttiness. There is a faint paper note on the back end. Fairly thin on the tongue. Interesting.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Holy Grail Pub. Poured a dark brown, mahaugany when light shined on it, thin khaki top, no laceing. Tasted mostly whiskey, slight roasted malts, faint pecan. Low carbonation, medium body. Overall I wish the pecan and malts were more pronounced.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Jack. Pours deep brown with a staunch, foamy beige head. The nose has toasted marshmallow, burnt wood. Medium sweet flavor, some dark fruits, burnt wood, toasted bread. Full bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Lightly warming finish, some tangy dark fruits, milk chocolate. Interesting.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 13, 2014 Bottle thanks to Jack. It pours dark brown with a small tan head. The nose nose is rich, roasty, earth, manure, milk chocolate, dirt and earth. The taste is bitter, roasty, tangy, nut, wood, earth, spice, light vanilla, toffee and candy with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Too sweet for my liking. A small pour is enough for me....

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at DLD 2014. It poured a black color with a small tan head. The aroma was of nuts, chocolate and whiskey barrel. The taste was roasted malts with nutty chocolate, coffee with bourbon hints and a vanilla finish. Very nice.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Very nice. Perfectly aged -- a hint of the barrel without overpowering the delicate pecan flavor in the porter. Only negative here for me is that the carbonation is just higher than I like for this style. But, a quibble.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sweeter than the original Pecan Porter. Some vanilla and whiskey on the nose. Nuts, vanilla, whiskey, and oak on the palate. Not overly impressive for a barrel aged beer, kind of thin mouthfeel.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark black, red edges. 1 finger coffee head. Super boozy. Very creamy mouthfeel. It really is super nutty!
