COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a bigger, bolder version of our mainstay Pecan Porter, with a richer finish. Two months on recently emptied Jack Daniels select barrels imparted a wonderful vanilla character from the oak and a pleasant amount of whiskey nose and flavor.

Deep black in color with slight tan head. Strong whiskey notes on the aroma with some hints of roastiness underneath. Quite sweet and roasty with the vanilla whiskey strength intertwined. Really tasty! Notes: On tap at the Friendly Spot, San Antonio

2014 bottle. Brown with tan head. Nutty chocolate nose, little bit of barrel and whiskey. Taste gives nuts, light coffee, medium dark chocolate, mellow fruity whiskey notes. Medium mouthfeel, a little thin perhaps. Nuts and light barrel linger. Pretty decent, but I prefer the standard pecan porter if I'm honest (especially given the price point here)

Bottle opened up at the 2014 Ottawa End of Year Gathering. Dark brown with huge frothy mocha head that disappears fairly quickly. High carbonation, mild+ body that goes down easily, sweet, dry, vanilla, nutty (can’t say pecan but we did have a debate about pecan vs. walnut although they were subtle), oak, slightly bitter, some chocolate, light and fresh. Tasty.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a nice light brown foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt notes with black chocolates with subtle pecan notes. Whiskey notes are also easily noticeable and provided a nice smooth finish to the beer. Body is a bit thinner then I was expected with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very nice beer but can’t say that pecan are as apparent as I would have expected.

caramel, coffee, leather, leaves, earthy, vanilla, smoke, black, medium sweetness, full body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish, An exceptional, damn hard to find, example of a whiskey barrel aged ale. Superb with a chocolate silk cake or even a chocolate mousse.

Really liked this. Pours dark, pitch black as a big gusher. Nose is big molasses. Flavours are very boozy, lots of sweet syrup, some nutella. Tastes big sweet, medium bitter. Oily body, light carbonation. Big beer, well done.

A deep dark porter with a thick frothy dark brown head. In aroma, bitter herbaceous chocolate, coffee grind, musty character, powdery character, interesting. In mouth, a nice bitter sweet chocolate with coffee grind, licorice notes, a bit dry, light bourbon, nice. Bottle at 2014 Ottawa Xmas gathering.

2012 Vintage
From notes. Tasted some time near the summer of 2012 from a bottle. Pours completely opaque dark brown with a massive brown head that slowly recedes to thick, messy lace. The nose is nutty with some maple, vanilla, and banana whiskey. The flavor is the same, not giving me a whole lot, and really put off by the amazingly high amount of carbonation. The body is full with over-active carbonation and a long nutty and whiskey finish. Disappointing given the hype.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some pecans, some light whiskey and oak, hints of chocolate, and some dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend of everything. Average texture. A solid beer.

Bottle thanks to Phresh. Pours coca cola brown tan head. Nose/taste of whiskey, oak, pecan, toast and chocolate. Lighter bodied. Over-carbonated.
