1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Looks like an Oud Bruin, yet seems nearly still. Smells like charred fruit, hints of licorice. Meh.
Not sour at all, tastes like an overcarbed brown ale (despite the appearance). Orange-peel-esque bite too. Disappointing :(

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Deep brown, thin to moderate sudsy head, sparce lacing.   Tart unripened cherry and oakish nose.   Very much smells the part!   A bit more softer, make that way more softer on the tongue.   Minor wood
notes, soft semi-sweet unripened cherry, and not all that dry.   Its tart at best, with a somewhat decent woody background.   Listed as Sour/Wild, seems like Sour Red/Brown to me.   A pale one at that.   Moderate body and
mouthfeel.   Pale finish, faint unripened cherry, oak, general woodiness.   Normally at this stage this style would be dry and tart/puckering, but its not.   Very beginners like if you ask me.   Still clean and okay.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma is balanced between malt, dark fruit and acidity. The malt has a fairly toasted bread and nut character to it with some light caramel. The fruit is cherry, berry and grape. Acidity seems to be fairly acetic. Light funk.
Pours a fairly dark brown with some nice ruby highlights. Seems to be fairly clear. Tan head of medium low thickness that recedes fairly quickly to the edges and a thin layer that is steadily replenished.
Flavor starts with some sweet fruit and malt it then it goes down hill from there. Some plum and berry in the flavor upfront along with toasted bread and nuts. Mid palate a less than desire able moderately strong and harsh bitterness hits that also brings in a moderate acidity. Acidity definitely tends to be more acetic than lactic. Mid palate there is also some raisin notes and more nuttiness. Light alcohol spice in the finish. Light plastic phenolic note.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high almost effervescent carbonation. Low astringency and moderate alcohol warmth.
Overall this beer is a definite miss in my book. The acidity is off and doesn't work well with the malt in both the aroma and flavor. Also there is a slight phenolic note and in the flavor the bitterness is harsh and unwelcoming.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750ml from a BA trade - thanks, Miller! Murky amber/brown pour, almost no carbonation to the beer, with what looked a bit like an oily scrim on the surface. Wet oak, old berry, and a slight vegetal note in the aroma, not so appealing. Flat, mildly acetic, a bit of a chore in places. Flavors were pretty dismal in places too, with loads of vinegar, odd thrown elbows from strong malts, rotted fruit, and more wet wood. Swing and a miss.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at thirdeye11’s birthday party. Glad I got to try this one.
Brown in color with some tart cherry notes initially coming through in the aroma. The flavor begins similar to a classic brown ale with some light toffee and nut notes. However, there is also some tart cherry notes, but they are fairly faint. There is also a hint of funk and some light cocoa from the base beer. Not very sour, but I believe the sourness that is there adds to the base beer and makes this a unique drink.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Brownish amber brew with some off-white head. Nose of berries, oak, tart and sour. Flavor is muted, just not a lot going on. Ripe berries and other dark fruits.

Pours murky brown. Smells of funk. The mouthfeel is very flat and lacking in carbonation. Nice fruity notes with vinegary sourness.

2.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
@ Falling Rock, GABF 2012. Black hued with a thin off white head. Smelled no-good, with an aroma like mop water and sour-barrel dark malts. Flavor was thankfully better with some bretty and bacterial funky barrel dark earthy toffee, earthy dark malts, and a clean bretty raisin/oak tones on the finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
16oz on tap at Falling Rock. Pours a translucent mahogany amber with zero head. Aromas of sawdust, wood chips, grass, collard greens, onion patch, pencil eraser. Tart flavor, grass, herbs, tarragon, medicinal, treated wood. Medium bodied, tart finish. Pretty nice but the wood character is very non-traditional. More of an American take on a wild ale.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle shared by Chris- thanks again! Pours a cloudy amber-hued brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of vanilla, caramel, cherries, plums, earth, and brown sugar. Funky, tart, and sweet. Same with the flavor but without as much tartness. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, dry mouthfeel. Solid oud bruin.
