3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a brownish/amber color with a tan head. Smells slightly vinegary, as I sort of expected. Sweet bread and toffee malts are there. Some hints of dark fruit and a bit of oak/barrel aroma. The flavor has a nice tartness with notes of vinegar and cherries. A few other dark fruit notes in there as well as the sweetness of toffee malt. Not an overly impressive beer, but in no way bad or offensive.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2011 One of 400 bottles, available at the Black Star Co-op for the low, low price of $worth-it dollars. This sour pours like a we dream. Itís so dark in the glass it may as well be black. The head builds to a half inch and stays there as you finish the pour. Itís so enjoyable to watch it flowing into the glass it may as well be made illegal since they havenít found a way to tax that. The head disappears soon but thatís when the aroma takes over. Mellow and sour. Amen to bottle conditioning. I like sours. I donít love them, but this one I love. Please make more of it. They wonít let me take it out of the bar. Holy happy shit. Yes it is that good. Just drink it. Donít ask questions. Its the perfect balance of the four ingredients with a happy addition of the bacteria.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown with beige head. Aroma has hints of toasted malt, brown sugar, some dark fruit and a bit of farm house with a nice tart acidity......Flavor is much the same with subtle cherry notes as well and a nice tartness. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Overall, I enjoyed!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin brown head. Deep fruit and wild yeast aromas. Lots of cherry, some fig, and peach. Well-developed flavor, good interplay between malt and yeast notes. Chewy but dry with a lingering sourness and some rubbery brettanomyces notes. This will benefit from some time in the cellar, but drinks very nicely right now.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice semi-opaque brown pour. Little head that dissipates quickly with a little lacing and halo round the glass. Nose is full of leather, brett funk, moderate lactic, some smoke and brown maltiness. The taste isnít nearly as sour as the nose would suggest. Brett, spice, leather slight smoke, and mat backbone are there. Surprising lack of tart/sourness. Extremely dry. Very little fruit...this is funky malt all the way. I think this is a glimpse into a midway mark in a souring beer...the other two barrels are going in a nice direction and I think the bottles will age and progress nicely (as long as they donít explode!) I think the brett is far from finished with this beer.
