COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Svartediket Black IPA is a dark ale filled with hops giving it an aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. Roasted malts adds notes of coffee and bitter chocolate, and the dry ending gives the beer a complex, yet refreshing character. Editor’s note: Svartediket Black IPA was first brewed at Lervig Aktiebryggeri in February 2014. Moved to 7 Fjell when the brewery was up and running.

Tap, Naboen, Bergen, 29/10/14. Deep ruby, blackish in the gloom, with a heaped beige foam. Juicy stone fruit, Belgian-esque plummy yeast aroma flaked with bitter chocolate. Soft, soapy and floral with chocolate lime, flowers and a orange liqueur headiness announcing an ABV of anything up to 7%. Strength really is anyone’s guess but mine is...reindeer-beater. Mint, plum, clove and redcurrant more dubbel than IPA as it warms up from the ludicrously icy serving temperature. Very pleasant.

Very deep brown body with a beige head that laces the glass excellently. Hoppy, malty and strong aroma that is slightly on the hoppy side (with delicious notes of tropical fruits) but with a firm malty background. This is how I like my BIPAs! Strong flavour of lots of pine needles, tropical fruits and citrus that is perfectly backed up by roasted malt. Light sweet taste with a heavy bitter, long-lasting finish. Crisp, refreshing and very drinkable, mid-bodied, dry and with a moderate carbonation. BIPAs doesn’t get much better than this!

Colafarget med beige skum. Lukter sitrus, karamell og med noen lette kaffearomaer. Smak av grapefrukt, ristet kaffe og litt lakris. God karbonisering med en prikkende munnfølelse.
