COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We went a little overboard on this one! A mash tun packed mostly with pale ale malt and several different varieties of crystal malt provide a firm, slightly sweet malt flavor while copious amounts of resiny Yakima Valley hops go berserk on bitterness, flavor and aroma. Yes, this IPA is massive, but that’s what going Ballz Deep is all about! Brewing specs: Original gravity: 19.0 Plato Terminal gravity: 3.25-3.75 Plato IBUs (approx.): 82

A bit of a misnomer. Some sweet citrus notes. A bit of bitterness. More of an IPA. Some typical DIPA alcohol. Not massive but pretty good. A little pale, a little IPA and a little DIPA in one beer.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2012 Pint can, pours smooth with a small foam ring and has a very clean appeal. Smells of embracing hops and the classic citrus/IPA aroma, a smell I can only summarize as beautiful. Delicious hoppy taste with an amazing lingering finish which complements all types of savory entrees. Overall one of the best beers I’ve had. It’s a great package deal of flavor, aroma, and appearance that I believe all beer lovers could appreciate.

16oz can thanks to americanbrew. Amber orange brew with very little head. Aromas of pine, citrus, and bready malt. Balanced with a well hidden ABV. Flavors of bready malt and citrus.

Pint can. I thought this one was a lot better than the rating here. Poured a darker amber color with a white head that retained throughout the beer. Lacing was left on the side of the glass. This beer drank more like an IPA and not a double IPA. Still for the beer very good. Aroma was sweeter malts, pines and spruce. Flavor was more balanced but was still very bitter in the finish. Great beer. Maybe not the best in style but if no one else likes it, I’ll drink it all.

473ml can pours hazy pale amber color with a huge off-white head which settles leaving some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by floral and citrus hops with some caramel malt. Taste is malty sweet with a pleasing hoppy bitter finish. Medium body and ample carbonation give the palate a good dosing of happiness. This is one of the best DIPA’s I have tried from a can. Very well done.

(16oz can thanks to AmEricanbrew) gold-orange pour with a fine tan lasting head. Nose of sweet bread, orange and grapefruit, candied citrus, and fruity. Taste is bitter orange but also sweet to match, cracker, citrus oil and bready. Rich flavor, caramel linger.

Can. Big, grassy, dirty hops in the nose and on the palate. Earthy flavors, with dry caramel and fruit. English malt character with big hops flavor, though not in the typical West Coast way. Little to no citrus. The overall the feeling is dry and restrained. Nice.

Can thanks to Mike. Pours a mostly clean and bright amber color with a medium off-white head. The aroma is sweet biscuit and caramel. The flavor is an overly sweet caramel crystal malt base with bitterness in the finish. No real utilization of hop flavors, but some bitterness only. Tastes like a under-attenuated strong Amber Ale. This is not an IIPA- not but any means. If a IIPA means anything it is a showcase of hops, it might be floral, citrus, pine, or even just a bitter hop bomb, but this showcases none of these. Very odd.
