3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
My Bottom Line:
Crisp toasted malts overcome this Pale Ale’s lightly vegetal aspects, while honeyed sweetness completes the decoy.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the light copper clarity.
-Mineral edges bother the flavor profile a tad.
-Hope were not well expressed, especially in the aroma.
-The slender body made this nonetheless drinkable.
On tap at Naked City.

Clear amber color/ lasting ivory head. Grainy malt, straw, salt, black pepper aromas. medium bodied. Lightly sweet bready malt, caramel, grass, black pepper flavors-not bad.

16 oz can from By the Bottle, consumed as a shower beer(!) before a World Cup match this summer. Yellow pour, small white head and not much lacing. Smelt of light floral and citrus hops with some light biscuit malt. Really not that much aroma at all. Tasted of floral hops, lemon and biscuit with a thin mouthfeel. Not an awful beer, but not all that great either

Tap. Light almost too light and yellow for a pale but a nice head. Aroma is floral and fruity yeast. Flavor is toast and yeast with some light bitter and floral hops. Clean beer flavors but a little boring.

Can from Whidbey Beer Works. Pours light copper with a 3 finger foamy off-white head. Aroma is floral over light caramel. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is very light caramel, almost pale malt, with some mild florality. Finish is quite dry. Bitter is not strong. It’s arguably over the pond stuff. Drinks well.

Orange pour, large loose white head. Dank aroma that I found overall unpleasant. There’s some specific thing about the earthy/grassy characteristics that brings cat feces to mind. Not horrendous, but off enough to make drinking this beer less enjoyable. Toasty, biscuity malt, grass, earth on the flavor. As it warmed there was a slight lemon acidicness that made itself known.

16 oz pint can, purchased at the Beer Authority in Lake City, Seattle. A little bit of gunk seemed to have seeped out of the top lid. Pour is almost entirely clear golden orange with a well formed two inch white head the falls slowly with foam and lacing. Aroma is mild cereal grain, along with soft floral hop and a whisper of lemon sourness. Mostly clean, the seepage did not seem to impact the nose. Taste is the toasted cereal grain, along with some breadiness and the floral hop character of the nose. Finishes dry, almost dusty. A touch of the sour shows up in the aftertaste, and disappears completely as it warms. Palate is medium, a bit mouth coating, nice prickly carbonation. This has a nice drinkable body to it, nice.

7 Seas Brewing – Gig Harbor, WA
Good malt and hops aroma. Malt was earthy with the bittering of the hops this was a great British ale. Golden in color and clear. Strong bitter hops made this a great finish. Has very much a ESB flair. The earthy flavors where interesting also. Do we have a new style?

Tap at Fiddlers.
Light pour, modest head. Grassy, earthy flavors with that ESB-type orchard fruit, but a bit of grain comes through and spoils the overall effect. Decent, nice to see WA brewers doing something other than the standard PacNW lineup.
