From keg @7 Stern Bräu, Wien. Hazed nut-brown with a beige lace on top.
Sweet ashy malt aroma. Pepper and caramel tones, and a whiff og earthy hops. Taste is sourish-sweet with a distinct meaty smokiness. Notes of burnt wood and pepper. Medium body, slick mouthfeel. Smoke linger in the finish. A robust and well-made Smoked.

For a "Bamberg" beer brewed in Vienna, it’s pretty, pretty, pretty tasty. Boasting a ham-like nose and dark but not opaque brownish-red color, this Rauchbier provides the unique Beech-smoked flavor typical of the style without making you think you are drinking a meal in a glass. Served in a tall yet lovely glass from 7 Stern, the Bamberger Rauchbier is probably the best they offer and one you must try if you haven’t had a true smoked beer (or can’t make it to Bamberg). Cheers!

On tap @ the brewpub. The aroma has caramel, smoke, bacon. Hazy, brown coloured beer with an off-white, lasting, medium head. The taste is a bit sweet, has caramel malts, smoked malts, meat, is light toasty. Light-medium bodied beer, closer to light bodied though. Clean and dry. This is very good.

’Adapted’ bottle at cgarvieuk’s, courtesy of the Drummer. Deep murky brown in appearance, with a wonderfully interesting, intriguing aroma of salami, bacon etc. Smoked meats/antipasti. Taste is smoky, slightly salty and fairly malty. Slightly watery, a touch thin, but gets a few points back for being interesting.
