7Stern-owner Sigmund Flitter just loves Bamberg’s smoked beers. So he decided to use large quantities of beech-wood - smoked malt in this franconian-inspired "Rauchbier". Dark red to black in colour with an impressive smoky nose and a full, smoky body that gives way to a robust bitterness the 7Stern "Rauchbier" is the perfect drink for those who prefer hearty smoked food or a good after dinner cigar.

Dark brown-black color with white head. Aroma is smoked malts, some caramel. Taste is surprisingly fresh, dry malty tones, schwarzbrot, with an underlying smokey tone. Fine-bubbled carbonation which is a bit too high. Slightly watery mouthfeel, but the pleasant smokey aftertaste makes up for it. Very decent!

Bottle: Amber coloured, hazy, medium-sized off-white head with a little lace; sweetish smokey and fruity-caramelly nose, burnt wood and some ashes in the background; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; sweet-bitter finish with lots of smoky flavours. Good…

Smells and tastes like mennonite farmer sausage. I don’t like this in my beer. However...it’s a bit more subdued in this brew. And the guys working here are awesome because they made me schnitzel 4 minutes before the kitchen closed. So they get style points. Really though..it’s a decent smoked beer.

On tap at brewpub . Dark brown body off white head. Sweet malty and a nice appropriate touch of smoke . Not harsh at all but instead the smoke compliments the beer.

.3l pour from tap into a tall handled cylindrical glass. Light brown, mostly opaque, fluffy white head, great lacing. Strong smoky nose. Slightly sweet. Medium body, slighty creamy, smooth. Sweet, malty, quite smokey. Fairly BBQ all around. Not for the faint of heart.

Clear brown colour with a medium white head and a light, smoked and malty aroma. It´s a well balanced beer with sweet malt, some caramel, light hoppy flavour in the end and a smokey taste. If you have ever tried a Schlenkerla from Bamberg, the 7Stern Rauchbier is quite similar to them, but with a more moderate taste instead of a massive smoky taste.

instead of blowing me away with smoke, was only lightly smoked with Beachwood. The malt comes through more than the smoked (which is VERY fine by me) and the finish is smooth, if not somewhat off dry. Brilliant

500ml bottle. It has low brown head and same colour. Taste is the point, so first sweet malt than huge smoke (like ham or cheese) and some hop and citric at the end. Very nice beer, i liked it!
