Not the beer for the faint hearted: Golden in colour this beer looks sufficiently innocent - but it is spicy, very spicy. Little does the nose (with just a hint of cooked vegetable) warn you of the stinging bite the chilli peppers add to this full bodied lager. The effect of capsicin - the active substance in chilli - cools you off in summer and heats you up in winter. While many believe it takes a strong man not to cry when consuming this unusual beer it turns out to be popular with ladies too. With those who are hot, very hot.

Draught at the 7 Stern Bräu, Vienna, Austria. Hazy pale golden colour with a tiny frothy white head. Chili, bell peppers, mild cooked vegetables and some malt in the aroma. The flavour is very spicy. It burns like hell so there’s no other sensations... I like chili but this is exaggeration. Burns. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle from trhe vending machine at the brewery. Golden colour, small white head, aroma of paprika powder and chili. Malty start, very, very hot chili flavours tuning in at once, killing any other flavour that might be present. Hot, hot, hot. No, no, no. Never ever again.

Draught @ 7Stern. Very cloudy, pale golden color. very short-life small white head, slight chili aroma, from light to medium body, smooth fizziness, sweet malty and very hot chili taste, very hot palate. This brew is too hot for me.

Bottle. Light golden, hazy, very small and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, spicy (chili). Body is medium, malty and very spicy. Finish is average to long and extremely spicy. Not really enjoyable "beer".

On tap at brewpub. Opaline yellow with small head. Fresh chili and clams aroma. Shitty taste of bloody mary, chili covers everything and makes lips burn! Not drinkable at all

Pale blonde with minimal head. Fruity nose, all consuming chili in the fairly thin body. Had spicier but this is one dimensional. Novelty value only really.

Tap at 7 Stern. It pours hazy golden yellow with a small white head. The nose is cooked green vegetables, chilli skin, spice and dough. The taste is massive on the chilli front, spicy as hell, the spice consumes the base beer..... at a stretch I would say some grass, faint dough and green vegetables in the background. Finishes hot and spicy. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A novelty for sure, surly nobody enjoys drinking this?!

Tap @ Brewpub, Vienna. Day 1 RBESG 2012. Pours cloudy yellow with a small creamy head. Buttery and herbal. Burning hot. Nasty shit.

19/07 On tap at the brewpub. It poured almost clear golden body with medium sized head. Mild, grainy and bread malty aroma, chilli was just hinted here. Weak flavor, slightly bread malty with chilli bite coming two seconds after it and building up towards the finish. No real aftertaste, as chilli ruins the palate for some time of course. Light body probably makes chilli a bit milder and less obvious than in the similar beers, adding to drinkability. OK for a chilli beer.
