DenverLogan (420), Oceanside, California, USA Jun 16, 2006 I had this June 11th. Huge chili-tabasco flavor; wild and fun in the mouth but quite tasty; nice subtle sweetness; big bite at the end. Comparable with the best chili beer in the SW United States. It was also listed as 4.7 abv for my visit.
Doggythedog (962), Split, Croatia Aug 27, 2008 0.5l bottle brought from Vienna by a friend (thanks Ivana!) Aww, my third chilli beer, how cute. Poured a yellow/orange murky body with a thick white medium sized head that went away slowly. Weak nose, but with evident peppers. The base beer turns out to be quite bready, with some lemony hoppy notes trying to be refreshing in spite of their surroundings. And then the big chilli burn wipes everything clean and stays there for awhile. It wasn’t as offensive as the Dom Brau one for me, but it certainly didn’t change my mind about these beers. dunkpigen (274), Kolding, Denmark Jul 29, 2008 Pours golden with a nice small creamy head with laces. Aroma of pepper, chilli and flowers. It burns more than it tastes... but it starts of very nicely, quite sweet, but then you sudden get a burning throat and can not enjoy it anymore. But still very interesting :o) Theis (2039), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 16, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Clear yellow - white head. Chilli, Chilli, Chilli---- high chilli. light body, sweetness, very hot, boiled vegetables. Why ??? thewolf (3607), Kolding, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Tap @ the brewpub, Vienna.
Pours deep, hazy golden with a small, creamy, white head. Aroma is lightly spicy, some chili, pepper and notes of fresh blossoming roses. Low carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour starts sweet, then a barrage of peppery chili hits me. Five seconds later, my mouth settles and it’s okay - but a pint sure takes some time! We couldn’t finish it, but it was so interesting that it never gets drain-pour ratings. Rune (1508), Tromsø, Norway Dec 14, 2007 Yeah, this is really hot and heavy burning stuff. 300ml vom Fass at the brew pub in Wien. The pour reveals a hazy, amber body topped by a creamy, slightly off-white head. Compared to the taste the smell is rather innocent with hints of malty spiciness. The first two sips are very hot with chili and other spicies burning down the palate. But after the sense of taste has been numbed(?), it becomes more drinkable and hints of malt and grapefruits are coming through. Foamy mouthfeel and looong spicy aftertaste. Indeed, a very rare drinking experience (02.12.2007)
