3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 thewolf (9853) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUL 13, 2008
Tap @ the brewpub, Vienna.
Pours hazy pale golden with lots of bubbles. A pretty, creamy, white head on top. Aroma has weak butter and a slight herbal touch. A bit thin at first, but it really gets a bit creamy. Clear hemp character in flavour, rather malty sweet. Refreshing with a good, long, lingering, herbal finish.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Christian (9697) - Odense, DENMARK - AUG 8, 2012
RBESG 2012 - Day 1. Hazy golden with a lasting white head. Aroma of butter, herbal hops and nettle. Sweet malty flavour with diacetyl and some herbal notes

Mild hopfig-kräuterartiger Antrunk, im Mittelteil leider etwas wässrig. Herb-süßlich werdend, im Abgang wieder etwas hopfig. Wenig intensiv.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2004 On tap at 7SternBrau, Wien (with Geiserich). Pale orange with lasting head, slight haze. Sorry, but I didn’t get this one, thin vegetable leafy notes in a thin malt. Dry with some hemp on the nose. Not to my taste.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JoeMcPhee (7620) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - APR 4, 2010
Thanks to PilsnerPeter for sharing. Pale golden pour with a very thick, sticky white head. The nose is quite clean and fresh. A bit of soft herbal spiciness and a touch of nutty character as well. The flavour is nutty and sweet on the finish. As it warms up there is a touch of soft peppery spice on the back of the palate, but it’s pretty subtle.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MartinT (6928) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 9, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2009 My Bottom Line:
A bready malt pillow is scented with the fresh and enticing herbal spiciness of hemp in this quenching and riveting Helles mit hanf.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam laces atop the shiny golden gown.
-This lager is as well rounded as any other 7 Stern brew I’ve had.
-The base malt sweetness is nearly honeyed.
-The hemp is so well used, it admirably replaces the hops in both aroma, flavor and finish.
-This is perfectly balanced; this Slovak brewer really knows what he’s doing!
On tap at the brewpub.

Tap @ brewery during RBESG 2012. Hazy golden appearance with an off white head. Herbal, grassy, a bit woody, grainy aroma. A bit chewy, woody, herbal, light spicy, straw flavor.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rune (6120) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2007
500ml swing-top bottle (Bügelflasche) (bb.31.12.07) bought at 7 Stern Bräu and enjoyed at our hotel in Vienna. Almost clear, amber in colour topped by a slowly fading white foam that left good lacing on the glass. Fruity aroma with elements of pineapples and grapefruits. Sweet herbal taste stongly supported by succulent oranges. Dry, but short ending. Refreshing and easy to drink (03.12.2007).

Comments: I’ll be damned! They managed to do a good hemp beer, but then again, it can’t be too hard with such a great basis as their märzen. Very perfumey indeed, concentrated nose with a floral outburst. It does feel much duller in mouth though and somewhat thin and overly herbal compared to the powerful nose.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (6008) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 10, 2009
On draught at the brewpub. The beer is a mostly clear yellow-orange color with a medium foamy white head that dissipates slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of honey, toffee and spices. Light body with flavors of sweet caramel malt and lightly spiced hops. Honey is present in the flavor as well. The finish is sweet and spicy with a honey aftertaste. Decent overall.
