COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale is an English beer style that originates from the British colonial period. This beer was hopped extra strong to survive the long sea voyage to India well, as hop was seen as particularly rich in natural preserving agents. In addition, the beer had been brewed with a higher original gravity to attract more alcohol, which of course had a preserving effect as well. Today, India Pale Ales, also called IPAs are not that strong anymore (usually 12.5° to 17° original gravity), but they are still about 5 times as much hopped. IPAs should not only taste but bitter, but have the rounded smell and aromatic taste of hops. To achieve the characteristic taste of the 7 Stern IPA, we only use American hops that give our beer its distinctive taste.

small frothy offwhite head. translucent thin, dark orangeish-amber body. totally diminishing. aroma: heavy hoppy, orange, caramel. if and ff: light sweet moderate bitter; average duration. palate: light medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, metallic finish. mais fraca que a média, mas saborosa. amargor escalante, lembra lúpulo, mas tastes incompleta. 50s. dulçoir maltado balanceia bem.

At the Brewpub. Hazy gold beer, little white head. Palate is slightly dry. Mild minerally carbonation. Pretty sweet malt, creamy and with some honey. Orange fruits well buried. Semi dry finish. Not bad but not very IPA like. Drinkable.

Leighton (7176) - London, ENGLAND - MAR 25, 2013
Bottle at the ChrisO Snow Tasting, London. Thanks to Paul for this bottle. Pours lightly hazy amber with a fine, white head. Not going to put much more effort into this rating as the beer is clearly infected. Tangy, some leafy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Bleh. Barely drinkable. (If the beer isn’t infected, then it’s really terrible.)

Was the first IPA in Vienna and is still my favorite. Not to hoppy though and low alcohol for an IPA - 5 percent. Overall a very round beer. Sad they currently do not brew it.

Farty aroma. Watery palate. Messy taste. Not an IPA. Watery. Bad. Drainpour.

Scopey (3357) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 25, 2013
Bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting, picked up at 7 Stern. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is toast, sulphurous, grain and some sweetness. The taste is honey, lemon, tangy lime, some acidity, bitter-sweet aspect and faint soap with a dry, faintly citric finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Perhaps slightly infected. Disappointing given some of their other beers, but maybe this was a bad bottle...

Bottle at Chriso Snow Tasting, thanks to Paul, 20/01/13. Hazed orangey amber with a thin off white head. Nose is farts, sugars, vague hops, caramel, light vinegars. Taste comprises orange, sugars, malts, slightly acrid! Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, some vague bitterness in the finish. Unbalanced mess - file under ’M’ for MEH!

509ml on tap at the brew pub. Aroma is hops and slightly honey. Appearance is dark, cloudy brown with a nice brown-ish head. Taste is first sweet and immediately bitter with a very fine bitter-ish finish. Very nice mouth feel. Overall a good IPA with little space to improve. I like this.
