Siebenstern’s interpretation of the Märzen - style is a rare example of the Viennesse lager beer invented in the 1840s by the innovative brewer Anton Dreher: Amber to red in colour with a creamy head it features a malty nose and a hearty flavour resembling walnuts and sponge cake. This medium bodied beer is hoppy and well balanced. It finishes surprisingly dry.

Draught at the 7 Stern Brewpub, Vienna, 24.7.2015. Clear amber with a big and lacy white head. Caramel, malt and a little butter in the nose, very buttery and a little salty and sweet in the mouth. Medium-to-full body, pleasing grainy finish.

A nice marzen beer. Maybe one of the better ones I’ve had. Aromas are super grainy and toasty. Sweet and toasty flavours. Refreshing and fresh tasting. Enjoyed at 7 sternbrau

On Tap at 7 Stern Bräu, Vienna. Nice amber colour with a white head. Sweet, malty aroma with some smoke and grains. Bitterness is light, but shows some herb hops. Quite good one.

500ml bottle. It is half-brown lager with a lot of sweet malt (rather at start) and just a little bitter. I waited much more from this. There are smoke traces. Body is medium, foam is beige. It is not a big hit for hard price.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2015 Draught at the brewpub.
Amber, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, slightly beige head.
Aroma of bread, grains, honey.
Very smooth taste of bread, honey, grains, fruity hops, some herbs, slight bubblegum.
Medium to light, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes smooth, medium bitter, with bread, some honey, herbs, slight metal.

Quaffable! Much beyond most beers of this style you’ll find in Austria. More in the traditional style, with a darker appearance and a very very smooth, malty taste! Together with the one from Augustiner Mülln the best Märzen lager from Austria in my opinion.
